YET AGAIN

It was a quiet night like any other:

I, alone in my stadium–like compound. The crickets couldn't stop chattering about how their day went, the dogs sang sweet melodies to the moon and the trees danced. The moon must have loved it, as it shone its light gently on our faces to show its appreciation.

And there I laid: my body tired from carrying these wrinkles. My heart must have felt like a real champion—it succeeded in failing. I caught a glimpse of heaven, and it was a beautiful sight.

Oh woman! You truly are covetous, you must have seen how beautiful it was and that is why you decided to go there last year.

"This is it" I said to myself.

Oh hope! You slimy bastard. I tried getting a hold of you but you kept slipping away the more.

It was time.

I closed my eyes.

Only for it to be blinded by the morning sun when I woke.

The night had a lot to offer, but wasn't in for a bargain.

Yet again, death had made a mockery of me.
