YOU CAN DO IT" - A CAMPAIGN AGAINST PROCRASTINATION.

Have you ever found yourself stuck in a hole of delay and panic, wondering why you can't seem to get things done? Oh, I understand. That small, silent killer voice that always shows up with what it knows how to do best has shown up again. It's not your fault, maybe. You're just like a peacock wanting to win all the time, but reality is not as easy as it plays in your memory, turning all later fantasies into mere clean illusions and leaving you to behold the agony procrastination has caused you again. This time, you whispered like a frustrated antelope, "I'll do better."

Procrastination is said to be a thief of time; it's always on the verge of saying "I'll do it later" but never gets to it in the long run. Procrastination has the habit of putting on hold or delaying a particular task or decision. Procrastination doesn't only make you unproductive; it also brings regrets, fear of failure, and many other negative auras that could have been avoided with a simple act of productivity.

Procrastination tells you that:

- You can do it later.

- You still have the luxury of time.

- There are other things that you can do.

- Wait, rest a bit. (When you fully know that you've not done anything)

- You've tried; you can continue later.

- Take your time; you can always start anytime.

- The exam is in two months' time; aren't you reading too early?

- You can always catch up later.

- Just one more episode, then you'll be off to read.

It's okay to feel tired; it's okay to have some rest, but it's tragic to be a wild procrastinator.

Freedom from procrastination takes place by recognizing that you procrastinate, which is the first step toward being delivered from procrastination. The tragic thing is that many are being sucked deep like sugarcane with the straw of procrastination but are not aware of it. It's through this knowledge that you will get to be free. Awareness is the first step to change. The Bible also says, "Know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32). If you don't know that you procrastinate, you will not see the need to be free from procrastination. Therefore, knowing that you are a procrastinator is the first step toward being free from procrastination.

Starving the root of procrastination is the second step toward being free from procrastination. Sit, calm your nerves, reflect, pause, and think calmly. Thereafter, highlight those things that make you procrastinate. Discover and root out the circumstances that always surround your procrastinating journey. After highlighting them, look for possible ways to overcome them. Have the mind of an overcomer whose mind is always based on how to be productive and efficient, not on how to delay tasks and never swing into action.

Procrastination: I'll do it later.

Overcoming mind: There's not much time on my side.

Procrastination: You still have two months to the exams; why prepare so early?

Overcoming mind: Preparing now will put me on the safer side; nonetheless, no knowledge is lost.

Knowing that you can change is another step toward being free from procrastination. Know that you have the power to change from a procrastinator to someone productive. Remember, you have all it takes to be productive and exceptional embedded in you; you just need to stir those things up. You have the potential to achieve great things within you. Swing into action; don't wait for perfection.

Among various reasons why people procrastinate, the fear of being less is said to be one of the top reasons. People think procrastination only says "I'll do it later," but deep down, the secret, still voice of procrastination echoes, "I'm afraid of losing and winning, I'm afraid of failure, I'm afraid of success, I'm afraid of not being perfect... Let's just wait." Procrastination has this force that magnetizes fear to its victim, and hoarse and still voices of panting and regret follow after its victim is unable to meet deadlines, and the failure that the procrastinator dreads becomes their peak achievement.

Dear readers, it's okay to feel tired; it's okay to have some rest when choked up with a lot of tasks, but it's tragic to be a wild procrastinator. Don't be a fan of shifting and postponing duties you know you have to act on quickly. That particular course you've wanted to start reading but keep procrastinating, that particular person you want to have a conversation with, that particular article you ought to submit, that specific place you ought to go for a life-changing experience, that particular skill you want to learn - YOU CAN DO IT. Just take the step first, and you'll see you're almost done; don't wait for perfection; you'll become perfect with time.

Now that you know the truth, don't be a slave to procrastination, it's time to arise. YOU CAN DO IT and now is the time.
