The 72-Hour Outrage Cycle
The 72-Hour Outrage Cycle
The 72-Hour Outrage Cycle
Seeing what happened to that young Ghanaian boy in New York feels like a grim reminder that we are still running in intellectual circles.

Every time a tragedy like this break, the script plays out identically: the timeline explodes for 72 hours, the hashtags and think-pieces drop, politicians read empty statements off teleprompters, and by next week, everyone scrolls on, leaving the baseline reality on the street completely untouched.

We’ve gotten so comfortable with the aesthetics of protest that reposting a graphic now feels like doing the work, even when the needle hasn't moved an inch in years.

Let’s think about this, does the "Black Lives Matter" framing and hashtag activism still achieve real accountability today, or do we need to stop recycling the same slogans and build a completely different strategy?
