The you I knew was painted gold,&nbsp;<p>Not mine to keep, but sweet to hold.&nbsp;</p><p>I chased your light, forgot my flame,&nbsp;</p><p>Now finding me means losing your name.</p><p><br></p><p>I won’t twist truth to fit your mold,&nbsp;</p><p>Or trade my warmth for something cold.&nbsp;</p><p>You weren’t cruel, not all the way,&nbsp;</p><p>Just not the one who chose to stay.</p><p><br></p><p>So here’s my grace, not hate, to give&nbsp;</p><p>You were a lesson I had to live.</p><p><br></p><p>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~</p><p>There’s something about pain,</p><p>it humbles you.</p><p>And as a writer, I had to be humbled enough to write about me this way.</p><p>There’s a line that stayed with me from Lauren Spencer Smith's song FLOWERS&nbsp;</p><p>“Always thought I’d only make a fool of someone else,</p><p>now I’ve gone and made one of myself.”</p><p><br></p><p>Funny how life teaches you…</p><p>sometimes, you’re not just the storyteller.</p><p>You’re the lesson too.</p>
