No. It happens when you can't give birth. She gives birth in your name like in the bible when Jacob wife couldn't give birth she presented her maid.

Not really. They marry the wife to bear children in their name like what happened in the bible with the two wives of Isaac giving their meds to their husband to bear more children for them
