<p>Interestingly, 'you' was originally used as a plural pronoun, while 'thou' was used for one person. Over time, 'you' became the common way of addressing both one person and several people, but it retained the verb 'are'. So the difference is largely historical. English has a few of these interesting leftovers 😂</p>
