Being A Beginner

Nobody really talks about how embarrassing it feels to be a beginner.

You want to learn something, so you start.

Then you realize you're not naturally good at it.

You make mistakes. Someone laughs. Someone tells you you're not doing it right.

And suddenly, something you were excited about starts feeling like proof that you can't do it.

You find something you want to learn, you get excited, and then reality hits you’re not as good as you imagined yourself being.

You make mistakes, you forget steps, you look awkward, and sometimes someone says something that makes you question why you even started.

And that's the part that can make you quit.

But maybe being bad at something isn't a sign to stop.

Maybe it's simply what being a beginner looks like.

You don't have to be good at something before you're allowed to enjoy learning it.

Being bad at something you just started doesn't mean you're incapable of becoming good at it.

It simply means you're learning.

So if you're a beginner at something right now, don't let someone's opinion convince you to abandon something you're still learning.

Give yourself permission to be awkward, make mistakes, start again, and improve slowly.

You don't have to be good at it today. You just have to be willing to keep learning

So, if you're learning something new, don't let your first few mistakes convince you that you can't do it.

Give yourself time, keep practicing, and remember that nobody becomes good at something by being afraid to be bad at it first.
