Happy Independence Day,Or that’s what I’d like to say.Or what I would say if reality was a tad was dissimilar to current status Happy Independence Day Is what I’d say if we weren’t plunged directly into chaos and madness of a system which has yielded no desirable outcome for the people it was meant to satisfy This is the disposition of most Nigerians We are bitterWe are angryWe are hurtWe’ve been exploited, blindfolded, imposed on, manipulated and what not..What everyone and his promisesEvery semblance of hope is speedily trampled upon faster than we can dream….We are hurt.After all, there is a limit to how much a person can take WAITDon’t go. Please don’t go.If you do, Who would till the ground Who would plant the seedsWho would revolt and who would protestWho would build up and form me better for the next generation or at the very least who would restore my former glory?Where is your honour as a citizenWHO???? Honor??Glory??Was there every such a thing?Even if there was, is there any left??You are unsteady Inadequate Unproductive Future generations????What a joke. Tell me, do you really believe it’s fair to subject me to some fantastical vision in the name of honour and justice?Do you truly believe I am to serve you??What happens to my dreams then??My goals and plans.MY FAMILY????Is it such a terrible thing that I seek to save myself and my household from a wasteful life with no value?? No value in our currency??Our certificates???Our careers???Insecurity, corruption, fraud, bribery, villainy, extortion, vulnerability, anxiety HAVEN’T I DONE ENOUGH?? Haven’t I endured enough for the sake of a better tomorrow ??Haven’t I sacrificed enough by making it this far?All for patriotism All for prideBut no more. You have indeed done enough You have endured You have sacrificed You have strived I’ve seen your cries Your blood and sweat The yells the painThe heat of the sunThe cold of the rainI’ve seen your suffering Your burning desires Your fears and misery I’ve seen them all I wish to give you more The gold beneath the ground,In Zamfara it gleams,A promise of our wealth,A light in all our dreams. black gold flows in Niger Delta deep,Crude oil, our nation's pride,coal in Enugu,Tin and Columbite in Jos,Limestone in Sokoto Iron ore in Kogi,To build our steel so strong,Lead and Zinc in Ebonyi,Kaolin so white and clean, From forests green to rivers blue,From mountains down to sea,Nigeria is blessed with riches,For you and for me. People are always fighting for Nigeria. Even right now.. without the thought that the country could one day be better as well as their livelihoods… without the thought that something good could actually come out of this country then workers wouldn’t work, farmers wouldn’t till, pastors wouldn’t pray and voters wouldn’t vote…But there is a limit to how far all these can take us…. Soo that begs the question…. Stay or leave??Patriotism or treachery??? Patriotism….No matter how we fight it we’re still Nigerians…When we speak, when we act….Where are you from??Oh I’m a Nigerian“That third rate country??The reputation of the country would always keep coming at us no matter where we go.. Sooo what would it be fight or flight??Let’s just face it,people are never going to be able to leave.I honestly have never heard of free convenient portal to another countrySome people are never gonna get those papersSome people are never gonna get that passport Some people are never gonna get that care Soo what would it be?? PATRIOTISM OR INFIDELITYThe system is buggedThere is no honor There is no honest dealings There is no sympathy waiting to lead you furtherSoooo what do you do when all seems to be against you???TAKE ITNo government, no grants, no Don’t be pressured to leave because others areDon’t kid yourself There’s no such thing as equalityThe system that works for others could fail youThe only sure way is to TAKE IT SCREW PATRIOTISM SCREW LOYALISMSCREW NATIONALISMTHE NATION IS YOU
