FOUR YEARS IN THE SAVANNAH VIII
<p><strong>CHAPTER 8: Beyond the Classroom.</strong></p><p><br/></p><p>University life eventually became normal, like a routine for me.</p><p><br/></p><p>Lectures became normal.</p><p><br/></p><p>Assignment became frequent.</p><p><br/></p><p>Presentations, tests came and went.</p><p><br/></p><p>Not long, I discovered that to survive in university required more than intelligence.</p><p><br/></p><p>It required discipline.</p><p><br/></p><p>It required resilience and endurance.</p><p><br/></p><p>It required collaboration and team work, because a tree can not make a forest.</p><p><br/></p><p>And Importantly, it required connecting with the right people at the right time.</p><p><br/></p><p>School bloodies are more than a group of friends.</p><p><br/></p><p>They are my family.</p><p><br/></p><p>Whenever one of us wasconfused about lecture, another would explain till everyone understands.</p><p><br/></p><p>We shareed insights.</p><p><br/></p><p>We would occupy lecture hall, reading and preparing for tests and examinations.</p><p><br/></p><p>No competition.</p><p><br/></p><p>We believed one person’s success was everyone success.</p><p><br/></p><p>We threw banter and this often caused quarrel , especially among those who had no thick skins for it.</p><p><br/></p><p>Those little moments became some of my happiest memories.</p><p><br/></p><p>Gloria remained a constant part of my journey.</p><p><br/></p><p>Our relationship grew stronger as days passed.</p><p><br/></p><p>She understood my dreams.</p><p><br/></p><p>She believed in my future even when I doubted myself.</p><p><br/></p><p>Flashing back, I realized some people enter our lives for a reason.</p><p><br/></p><p>She's one of them.</p><p><br/></p><p>Life in kashere also taught me independence.</p><p><br/></p><p>No one reminded you to attend lectures.</p><p><br/></p><p>Nobody forced you to read.</p><p><br/></p><p>Nobody monitored your decisions.</p><p><br/></p><p>Every choice carried a consequence.</p><p><br/></p><p>For the first time in my life, I understood that adulthood was not about age.</p><p><br/></p><p>It was about responsibility.</p><p><br/></p><p>Slowly, the unfamiliar town that once frightened me became home.</p><p><br/></p><p>The roads no longer looked strange.</p><p><br/></p><p>The faces became familiar.</p><p><br/></p><p>The classrooms became places where dreams were shaped.</p><p><br/></p><p>Without knowing it, Kashere was no longer just where I studied.</p><p><br/></p><p>It had become part of me.</p><p><br/></p><p>And I had become part of it.</p><p><br/></p><p>But I was still learning that university life had lessons no classroom could teach.</p><p><br/></p><p>And some of those lessons were yet to come.</p><p><br/></p><p>TO BE CONTINUED.......</p><p><br/></p><p>@Àdùní</p><p><br/></p>
