Gratitude

And it hit me, right under the cycling fan—with the breeze upon my face as the light shone in my eyes, with me counting the ceilings. That’s when I hit it back, right from the floor I lay on. The reflection of the light gazed upon my thoughts as it took me back to "then"—not that far, yet not too close. It paused with a smile: a pinch of disbelief at what had become, a reminiscence of the journey so far.

Deeper and deeper it went; it just didn’t stop. The smile remained. There was so much to be grateful for. It didn’t come in flashes, but in its own full scenery. In awe, the eyes lit up.

In pure ecstasy, he looked around. All to be grateful for is what he sees; all to be thankful for is what he hears; and that which is peace is what he feels.

It all slowed down, just to catch up with myself. It wasn’t time travel, but I could feel it. The smile was still there; I felt it. Only I could feel it, because only I knew it. Appreciative was that very moment, full of self-worth. That little pocket of time worked on the spirit, and gratitude was what the soul gave out.
