<p><strong>I think we broke Gen Alpha...</strong></p><p><br/></p><p>Yesterday I opened TikTok.</p><p><br/></p><p>A child who couldn't have been older than thirteen was live.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>It was 1:47am.</strong></p><p><br/></p><p>Why was I online you may ask? I was brainstorming on something.</p><p><br/></p><p>Anyway, thousands of people were watching.</p><p><br/></p><p>The comments were unexpected. I assumed there would be adults cautioning the children. Instead I saw this…</p><p><br/></p><p>"It's 2am. We should probably sleep."</p><p>"Nah."</p><p>"School tomorrow?"</p><p>"Don't care.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The adults there, yes, there were adults there who were not even commenting on the important things, the obvious, they commented how a famous child could teach them how to be viral.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then I wondered, is there hope for Gen alpha?</p><p><br/></p><p>As a GenZ I feel bad for Gen alpha. </p><p><br/></p><p>You may be wondering why someone from a generation not so different could say that.</p><p><br/></p><p>There are 6,7 reasons why. </p><p><br/></p><p>If you didn't catch that, you're probably not Gen alpha and that's not necessarily a bad thing.</p><p><br/></p><p>How can an entire generation be doomed?</p><p><br/></p><p>Calm down.</p><p><br/></p><p>You see, a generation that cannot think for themselves, or make decisions for themselves, will eventually allow someone else to do the thinking… who would that be? Their heroes, all of us that made them this way.</p><p><br/></p><p>“But they're children, the oldest being in their mid teens!!”</p><p><br/></p><p>I know, but if they were as naive as you think, why are they even allowed to be on the internet?</p><p><br/></p><p>This generation experienced their early childhood around the COVID-19 period. Sigh.</p><p><br/></p><p>Do I really feel bad for them? Yes, contrary to what you just read.</p><p><br/></p><p>This generation consists of children produced by Millennials. One.</p><p><br/></p><p>This generation spends 16 hours or thereabout thinking about, using or talking about the internet and social media. Two.</p><p><br/></p><p>They are glued to their screens. Three.</p><p><br/></p><p>They are moulded by GenZ's and brought up by Millennials. Four.</p><p><br/></p><p>They are highly dependent and easily controlled. Five.</p><p><br/></p><p>They are less intelligent than their predecessors and more intelligent than no prior generation due to their easy access to information that requires weeks of research (bold claim). Six-seven.</p><p><br/></p><p>A community of children that cannot decipher what is right and what is wrong because their woke parents, the same generation that said Gen Z is doomed, raised them to be completely dependent all in the name of “I didn't have that when I was their age, I want them to.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Look, how long till you realise that if this world continues, they'll eventually be the future leaders? Or is it until you're 60, voting through your iPad for somebody who is easily swayed before you realise the problem we've got?</p><p><br/></p><p>There is a pandemic eating deep into the fabric of the society! Wake up!</p><p><br/></p><p>Let's help these ones. They cannot help themselves.</p><p><br/></p><p>We made them this way, both Gen Zs and millennials—it is our duty to bring them back.</p><p><br/></p><p>You think spending 3 hours on tiktok is bad? Wait till you read the comments on a video in the afternoon telling you how it's 2am and they should probably go to sleep.</p><p><br/></p><p>My point is, this is not a flex. Poor parenting is not a flex. Addiction is not a flex. Poor mental capacity and hyper dependence is not a flex.</p><p><br/></p><p>The terrifying thing isn't that Gen Alpha is growing up, it is that they're growing up exactly the way we taught them to.</p><p><br/></p><p>You think the current governance is bad? Wait 40 years.</p><p><br/></p>
At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.

We pick the top 3.
The winners are picked using the "Top Monthly Contributors" tab on the rankings page.
Contributor Rankings
The Rankings/Leaderboard shows the Top 20 contributors and engagers on TwoCents a monthly and all-time basis
— as well as the most active colleges (users attending/that attended those colleges)
The all-time contributors ranking is based on the Contributor Score, which is a measure of all the engagement and exposure a contributor's content receives.
The monthly contributors ranking tracks performance of a user's insights for the current month. The monthly and all-time scores are calcuated DIFFERENTLY.
This page also shows the top engagers on an all-time & monthly basis.
