I’M NOT JUST A GIRL; sorry.
<p>There’s this phrase flying around: “I’m just a girl.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Honestly, I understand that it can mean different things to different people. Sometimes, it’s harmless. A playful way of saying, “Please, let me enjoy being feminine. Let me be soft. Let me not take life too seriously.”</p><p><br/></p><p>But somewhere along the line, I think we need to pause and check what we are permitting that phrase to become.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because what happens when “I’m just a girl” becomes an excuse not to stretch?</p><p>I’m just a girl, so I shouldn’t have to do hard things.<br/></p><p>I’m just a girl, so my biggest concern should be my appearance.<br/></p><p>I’m just a girl, so I can’t carry responsibility, pursue purpose, build something meaningful, or demand more from myself.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>No. I’m not just a girl.</p><p><br/></p><p>I am the habitation of the Almighty.</p><p>I am the temple of the Holy Spirit.<br/></p><p>I am part of a royal priesthood, called to declare the praises of the One who called me out of darkness into His marvellous light.<br/></p><p>I have the mind of Christ.<br/></p><p>I am called to influence, to serve, to create, to lead, to grow, and to occupy the space God has entrusted to me.<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>And none of this means I cannot enjoy my femininity. I can love my skin, dress beautifully, laugh loudly, be soft, ask for help, and enjoy the little things. Being a woman is not a limitation. Neither is softness an excuse for shrinking.</p><p><br/></p><p>But I refuse to use a playful phrase to negotiate myself down from the fullness of what I was created for.</p><p><br/></p><p>So, the next time you find yourself saying, “I’m just a girl,” pause for a moment. Check your motive.</p><p>Are you expressing joy in your femininity, or are you using it as permission to settle, shrink, or escape responsibility?<br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Because, darling, you are not <em>just</em> a girl.</p>
