Introverts vs surprise visitors
<p>Saturday. 2:14pm.</p><p><br/></p><p>Ada had one plan for the day: do nothing.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>No bath. No outing. No talking.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p> Just her bed, her phone and a plate of rice.💃</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Life was good.😌</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Then she heard it.</p><p><br/></p><p>Knock, knock, knock.</p><p>Ada froze. Her spoon stopped halfway to her mouth.</p><p><br/></p><p>"No. No, no, no."</p><p><br/></p><p>She slowly turned off her phone screen. </p><p><br/></p><p>Then she held her breath, like the person outside could hear her breathing through the door.</p><p><br/></p><p>Knock, knock, knock.</p><p><br/></p><p>"Ada! I know you're inside!"</p><p><br/></p><p>It was Aunty Bisi, her mum's friend, the one who stays three hours and asks about your life, your grades and your future husband.🤦</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Ada moved fast.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>"Should I pretend to be asleep?"</p><p><br/></p><p>She lay flat on the floor behind the bed. </p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>"Should I pretend the house was empty?"</p><p><br/></p><p>She whispered, "Nobody is here," to nobody.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>"Should I send my brother to say I've travelled?"</p><p><br/></p><p>But my brother was already at the door, saying, "She's inside o! She's eating rice!"</p><p><br/></p><p>Betrayal. 💀</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Ada slowly opened the door with the biggest fake smile in Nigeria.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>"Aunty Bisi! What a surprise! Come in!"</p><p><br/></p><p>Aunty Bisi walked in, sat down and said, "I was just passing by, so I said let me greet you."</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Three hours later, Ada knew about Aunty Bisi's new business, her neighbour's wedding, her cousin's visa wahala and three young men who would "be perfect" for her.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>When she finally left, Ada closed the door, locked it, leaned on it and whispered:</p><p>"Next time, I'm turning off the lights and the gate bell."</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>Her rice had gone cold. 🍚</p><p><br/></p><p> Introverts don't hate people. </p><p><br/></p><p>We just need a warning one hour before you come. 😭</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p> What's your best trick to avoid surprise visitors?
