Is It HYPOCRISY or RESPECT?
<p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>I have been seeing this argument everywhere and I want us to really talk about it.</p><p><br/></p><p>You attend a church, and in that church they have a doctrine - don't wear this, don't wear that, don't do this. And you respect it. While you are in that church, you obey their rules. You dress according to their doctrine because you respect God and you respect the house of God you entered.</p><p><br/></p><p>Now you leave that church, you travel back home, and you go back to wearing what you normally wear before. And people start saying "Ah! I thought you said you went to a church that doesn't allow this? So why are you wearing it now? You are a hypocrite!"</p><p><br/></p><p>My question is -is that really hypocrisy?</p><p><br/></p><p>For me, I don't think so. There is a difference between being a hypocrite and being respectful.</p><p><br/></p><p>When you enter someone's house, you follow their rules. If they say remove your shoes, you will remove it. Does that mean when you get back to your own house you must continue to walk barefooted? No.</p><p><br/></p><p>Hypocrisy is when you PRETEND to believe what you don't believe, just to deceive people. But respect is when you say "I am in your place, so I will honour your doctrine while I am here."</p><p><br/></p><p>Your personal conviction is between you and God. Church doctrine is church doctrine. Not every church doctrine is sin. Some are just principles to maintain order in that particular ministry.</p><p><br/></p><p>So before you call someone a hypocrite, ask yourself: Did they pretend? Or did they just show respect where they found themselves?</p><p><br/></p><p>What do you guys think? Is that person a hypocrite?</p>
