KENNETH HAS WON MY HEART

My face went warm as I watched Kenneth stare at me, and I found myself smiling without even trying. I feel so lucky to have met him. He is such a complete package: intelligent, respectful, thoughtful, gentle, well-mannered, considerate, affectionate, observant, helpful, cheerful, honest, humble and kind. He's the young man I have grown to love.

How can a little boy have such brains?

That’s right, little boy.😏 A five-year-old, to be precise.🙃

What were you thinking?🌚

Don’t get tired of reading just yet. Do you jump from a bus because you get tired of sitting? No! So stay till the end. I promise you’ll enjoy it. Get comfortable and enjoy the drive🤗

Kenneth is a beautiful combination of brains and manners. He has this quiet way of making people feel loved without even knowing that he is doing it. Somehow, he always knows how to put a smile on my face.

Like, where do I even begin to explain his perfection?

From where do I release this river overflowing in my heart like the Niger Delta?

Should I tell you how he treats me like a queen, how his presence feels like warmth, or how he somehow makes being loved look so effortless?

Okay, enough of the sweet talk

Let’s get right to it. 😉

He is my daddy’s friend’s son, and sometimes, I wish he were my own little brother.

He arranges my room when he notices something is out of place. When I finish eating, he takes my plate to the kitchen. And before entering my room, he asks, “Sister Gift, can I come in?”

Who taught this boy manners?

And did I mention his voice? Goodness. His little voice is adorable.

Whenever he sees me looking sad, he comes close and asks so gently, “What happened?” If I don’t answer, he doesn’t just walk away. He hugs me. He stays and he tries in his own little way, to make sure I am alright.

He notices the smallest things too.

Change my hair? He notices.

Wear something different? He compliments me.

And somehow, during dinner or night devotion, he always wants me to sit beside him.

Once, I got angry with him and scolded him. He looked at me and quietly said, “Sister Gift, I’m sorry. Your face has changed.”

My heart melted.

I could see the remorse and confusion written all over his little face, and suddenly, my anger had nowhere to stay.

Tell me, will I be human if I don’t love this boy?

And his smile?

My God.

That smile can put colour back into an ordinary day.

Kenneth is one of those little souls you meet and realise, much later, that they have quietly left footprints on your heart. He is intelligent, respectful, affectionate, curious, responsible, gentle and full of warmth. He is still so young, yet he carries so much sweetness in the way he treats people.

I love his little acts of kindness that probably mean nothing to him, but mean so much to me.

Kenneth is my favourite little person.

And even when I eventually leave this house, I know there will always be a small, warm corner of my heart that belongs to the memory of this sweet boy who once made ordinary days feel a little brighter.
You know how some people leave your life, but somehow never leave your words? You find yourself mentioning them, remembering them, even when they no longer have a place in your everyday life.

That’s what I’ve found and I think I'm right to say he has won my heart cos he now occupies a space in it.
