There are days when I wake up and the first thing I want to do is go back to sleep.

Not because I am lazy.

Not because I don't care about school.

I am simply tired.

Tired of waking up early.

Tired of rushing to class.

Tired of practicals.

Tired of clinical postings.

Tired of tests and examinations that seem to have no end๐ญ.

Sometimes, I look at my timetable and wonder, โWhen am I even supposed to breathe?โ๐คท

The life of a medical student is not as beautiful as it looks from the outside, this I can proudly say.

People see the white coat. They see the books. They see the pictures from the hospital. They see you learning about the human body and assume everything is exciting.

And yes, sometimes it is.

But there is another side nobody sees.

There are nights when you study until your eyes hurt. There are mornings when you drag yourself out of bed because you know you have a class you cannot afford to miss.

There are practicals where you are expected to remember almost everything.

There are clinical postings where you have to show up even when you are mentally exhausted.

There are countless tests.

One test ends, and another one is already waiting.

You finish one examination and instead of celebrating, you start preparing for the next.

It sometimes feels like there is always something to read and truly there are a lot to be covered .

Always something to submit.

Always somewhere you have to be.

And then there is the financial part.

School is expensive.

Transportation is expensive.

Food is expensive.

Books, handouts, practical materials and other school requirements can quietly become another source of stress.

Sometimes, you are trying to concentrate in class while also thinking about how you are going to sort out your next expense and nobody knows ๐คท.

You still sit there.

You still take notes.

You still answer questions.

You still smile.

Because somehow, you have to keep going.

There are days when you don't feel motivated at all.

You wake up and think, โI really don't want to go to school today.โ

You want to stay in bed.

You want to forget about school for just one day.

You want to have a normal day where your biggest problem is deciding what to eat or what movie to watch.

But then reality comes knocking.

There is a lecture.

There is a practical.

There is a posting.

There is a test.

There is something waiting for you.

So you get up.

You bathe.

You dress up.

You carry your bag.

And somehow, you leave the house.

Not because you are not tired.

You leave because you know you cannot give up.

That is one thing I have learned from being a medical student, sometimes, you don't need motivation to keep going. Sometimes, you just need to keep going.

You can be tired and still continue.

You can cry and still continue.

You can feel overwhelmed and still continue.

You can have a bad day and still wake up the next morning and try again.

You don't have to be strong every single day.

You don't have to love every part of the journey.

You don't even have to feel ready.

You just have to remember why you started.

One day, all these endless practicals will become memories.

The countless examinations will become stories you tell.

The late nights will become part of your journey.

The days you almost gave up will become proof that you didn't.

And that is what keeps me going.

Because somewhere ahead of all these stressful days is the reason I started.

The dream.

The qualification.

The career.

The person I am becoming.

Maybe the journey is not supposed to be easy.

Maybe the tight schedules, early mornings, difficult examinations, exhausting postings and financial struggles are all part of the process.

Maybe one day, I will look back and realize that I was stronger than I thought.

So, to every medical student who is currently exhausted:

I know you are tired.

I know the workload can feel overwhelming.

I know sometimes you just want to disappear for a while and forget about school.

But please, don't give up on yourself.

Rest when you need to.

Cry if you have to, this one I'm very sure of because it happens to me alot.

Then get back up.

You don't have to finish everything today.

Just take it easy.

Keep pushing.

Even when it is hard.

Even when you don't feel like it.

Even when nobody notices how much effort you are putting in just continue pushing and trust the process ๐.

Because someday, the person you are struggling to become will be grateful that you didn't stop.

We may be tired, but we are still moving ๐ฃ.

#medicalstudents.
