The following morning, I woke up with one clear determination.

Maison Revere was going to be ours.

I got dressed, gathered the necessary documents and headed straight to the renowned event centre.

The moment I stepped inside, I understood why Miss Anastasia wanted the venue so badly.

The place was breathtaking.

A grand crystal chandelier hung from the high ceiling, casting soft light across the polished marble floors.

The reception area was spacious, with elegant cream walls, tasteful gold accents and carefully arranged floral displays.

Beyond the glass doors, I caught a glimpse of the beautifully maintained gardens and the impressive outdoor space.

Everything about the place screamed luxury.

It was perfect for our event.

Behind the reception desk sat a young woman dressed in a fitted white shirt tucked neatly into a tailored black skirt.

Her uniform was immaculate, and her hair was pulled into a sleek bun that gave her a polished, professional appearance.

I approached the desk.

"Good morning. I'd like to see the manager, please."

She looked up from her computer. "Do you have an appointment?"

I hesitated.

"Well... no, not exactly."

"I'm sorry, ma'am. You can't see the manager without an appointment."

"Please, it's really important. I'm here on behalf of Vux Luxe. We need to discuss a possible booking for an upcoming event, and it's quite urgent."

"Then you can schedule an appointment."

"I understand, but I've tried reaching your office several times without success. I just need a few minutes with the manager."

She barely looked at me.

"Ma'am, I've already explained the procedure. You'll have to leave."

I took a breath, trying to keep my frustration under control.

"Please, I'm not asking for much. This event is important, and—"

"If you don't leave, I'll have to call security."

I stared at her, momentarily speechless.

Was she serious?

I was about to respond when a familiar voice sounded behind me.

"Princess?"

My shoulders stiffened.

I turned slowly.

Aaron stood a few steps away, a smug expression playing on his face. A tall man stood closely behind him, dressed in a dark suit. He looked like either his bodyguard or personal assistant. I couldn't tell.

I glared at Aaron, determined not to let him see how uncomfortable his presence made me.

Then I turned back to the receptionist.

Her entire expression had changed. Her eyes widened, and a bright smile spread across her face as she practically sat up straighter.

"Mr. McHollan! It's so good to see you."

She was blushing.

Aaron didn't even acknowledge her.

His eyes remained fixed on me.

I could feel his gaze, but I ignored him completely.

I had come here for business, and I wasn't going to let him distract me.

I picked up my handbag.

"Never mind. I'll come back another time."

I had barely taken a step when—

"Leaving already, Theresa?"

He said with a smirk…I wish I could just wipe that stupid smirk off his face…

I closed my eyes briefly.

AARON POV

I watched her walk away.

For reasons I couldn't explain, I couldn't take my eyes off her. Even after she had turned her back, my attention remained fixed on her retreating figure.

What was she doing to me?

I clenched my jaw.

I needed to stick to the deal.

I had no business getting distracted by her.

My phone rang, pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Are you here yet? They're waiting," Luke's voice came through.

"I'm coming."

I ended the call and adjusted my cufflinks before heading towards the elevator.

I had a meeting with one of our major business partners, and I couldn't afford to let personal distractions interfere with business.

As CEO of McHollan Holdings, I had inherited more than just my family's private equity firm. I had inherited the responsibility of keeping it profitable and expanding its reach.

Lately, however, I had been considering another investment.

Entertainment.

I wanted to venture into the industry, but I wasn't interested in throwing money at just any company. I needed the right people, the right vision and, most importantly, a brand that could deliver.

By the time I entered the boardroom, everyone was already seated. They immediately stood when they saw me.

I gestured for them to sit.

"Let's get started. What do you have?"

My expression remained unreadable as they began their presentation.

They stuttered through their opening remarks, clearly intimidated by the room. I listened, occasionally glancing at the documents in front of me, but my mind kept drifting elsewhere.

To a pair of hazel eyes.

To the stubborn woman at the reception who had refused to acknowledge me.

I exhaled quietly.

This was becoming ridiculous.

I glanced towards Wade, my assistant, and motioned for him to come closer. He immediately approached and bent slightly to hear me.

"Find out what that lady at the reception was asking for."

"On it, sir."

He returned to his seat.

The presentation continued, but nothing they said impressed me. Their ideas were predictable, their proposed strategy lacked originality, and their entire pitch sounded like something I had heard a hundred times before.

When they finally finished, I closed the folder in front of me.

"Is that all?"

The room fell silent.

I looked around at them.

"I expected something more convincing. You're supposed to be the best in the industry, yet this is what you've brought to the table?"

One of them attempted to speak, but I raised a hand.

"I'm not interested in excuses. I'll have my team review everything and get back to you."

With that, I stood and walked out.

Luke followed closely behind.

"What's going on with you?" he asked when we were out of earshot. "You barely paid attention in there."

I loosened my tie slightly.

"Is that the major partners you talked about?

Best in the game, Luke?

I need something more. I want something fresh, something with actual vision. Not a bunch of wannabe influencers trying to sell me an idea."

Luke chuckled.

"You're impossible to impress."

"Then they should come better prepared."

Before he could respond, Wade hurried towards us. He leaned closer and whispered something into my ear.

I listened, my expression barely changing.

"Get it done," I instructed.

"Yes, sir."

He walked away.

I glanced briefly in the direction of the reception area.

Theresa Hale.

I repeated her name silently, a faint smirk touching my lips.

This is going to be interesting.....
