So after my father's threat, I was so scared of what to do.

I couldn't bring myself to tell my sister because, already, she was trying so hard to keep herself afloat with everything that was happening to her.

And also knowing that our parents will be absent on her big day all because of indoctrination and church rules, was still a big blow to her.

So I kept this to myself and continued to ask God for his direction and mercy, because I couldn't afford to miss my sister's wedding.

Not because of wedding rice or wedding juice, but because of blood.

When I was thinking of what to do, I made up my mind that I would go.

Maybe if my parents ended up losing their two children, just maybe, they will wake up to know that being religious and being caged by indoctrination has done more harm than good.

I picked most of my important things that I needed in the house, packed them in a portable bag, and I told my mom I was traveling for my sister's wedding.

Her eyes were red, and I could tell that she too was not having it easily, knowing she would miss her daughter's wedding.

One glance at me, she couldn't look me in the eyes, and she couldn't say anything.

I picked my bag and upon reaching the sitting room, there was my Dad reading his Bible with his eyeglasses on, upon seeing me leaving with a bag, he was first shocked, then he maintained his steeze.

He never believed I would have the balls to leave, knowing fully well that I was still in school.

“I'm going for my sister's wedding Dad, I'm sorry that it looks like I'm disobeying you, but… this religion of a thing has torn this family apart, and I'm sick and tired of it.”

“Take care, Dad.” I added as I made a few steps to leave.

My Dad's head was bent as he said,

“I hope you know that if you step out of this house today, you won't be coming back again?” He gently lifted up his head and stared deep into my eyes to hear me affirm those words to him.

I paused for a while as my heart was beating.

His final words resounded in my ear and made me realise that this man was really serious with what he said.

I blinked my eyes countless times in order to fight back tears before I replied,

“Yes I still remember, that means you've just lost the two daughters you have.” I said almost in a voice above a whisper as I left.

The disappointment on his face says it all.

I boarded a car and throughout that ride I was just crying silently.

I arrived one week before my sister's wedding as I wanted to stay and help her out with some errands.

Fortunately, the wedding day came and it was so successful that had it been I missed it, I would never have forgiven myself.

My sister's husband was a true child of God and the love he had for my sister was one to be envied.

He already insisted that she register and go for her masters after their honeymoon, and was already trying to put some things in place concerning career wise and future wise.

I was just looking at them at the wedding and I knew for sure that had it been my sister missed this man, before it will take her to see someone like this man again, it will really take ages to come.

The wedding finally ended and reality dawned on me again, I was now homeless, parentless, and churchless.

I already knew that anything that would carry me back to the church was to serve my suspension.

I was just sighing as I left my sister in their hotel room and went to mine.

All I could say was,

“Father, please help me.”

I eventually managed to sleep that night as I intentionally occupied my mind with how successful the wedding was, because it was the most beautiful thing that happened to me that day.

We however did the thanksgiving service the next day being on Sunday, I sha posted a lot of pictures on my status and I got a lot of,

“So you disobeyed papa and went to this wedding? Stubborn children born by good parents, sha come back and serve your punishment and suspension.”

I didn't reply.

My sister and her husband were to travel to Maldives the next day for their honeymoon, and to my greatest surprise, that Sunday evening, they called me into their hotel room and my sister said,

“Why couldn't you tell me that you are now an orphan just like me?”

I was shocked, I never wanted her to cry or feel bad for me, I just wanted her to be happy and celebrate her day.

I was quiet, I couldn't talk because if I said a word eeh, nah water go just spill from my eyes.

She drew me close and hugged me and we both burst into tears.

After crying, we consoled ourselves then started laughing.

My sister finally said,

“Don't ask me how I knew, Dad sent a text asking me to warn you never to return home, you should have told me, what if I travelled out and didn't know?”

“I didn't want you to feel sorry for me.” I finally said.

“Don't worry, I will pay your school fees from now on, just go back and continue your studies, please make me proud.”

I was speechless, I hugged her countless times.

Moreover, when they were leaving for Maldives, my in-law gave me an envelope filled with money while I saw them off at the airport.

I reached home and counted it, and it was 150k.

My joy knew no bounds. I went back to school and continued with my studies.

Moreover, two years away from home, things were no more the same, things have moved so well for my sister and I.

I was already in my final year, my sister had given birth to twins and I proudly did the omugwo in the UK, but guess what, my parents never called to check up on my sister and I, and we didn't do the same.

Unfortunately for them at home, our pastor's first son started planning for his wedding, and guess what, the lady he wanted to marry was not a church member, she was from another church.

People were watching to see what would happen, but nothing happened my sister.

Some members started murmuring.

Some ladies that have not been married because the men who came for them were from different churches, and just to obey church laws, they refused to marry them, they now started feeling cheated.

My parents were worried as well.

They've lost their two children just because of this same issue.

The wedding finally took place, and the lady in question even did kinky on her hair and designed them with golden pearls, and did a modest makeup, all which were part of things they fight about in church, and everyone just sat in wonder watching things unfold like American wonder.

It was after that wedding that my parents called me for the first time after two years of never calling.

They also called my sister and asked for forgiveness, and pleaded that her husband should come and pay her dowry.

The church got to know about the preparation of my Dad trying to reconcile with us his daughters and they suspended him.

When we heard it, my sister and I started considering if we should not just come back and avoid every wahala.

We are still contemplating on what to do, so that our returning will not create another h@voc

To be continued.
