RESPECT IS...
I believe the value inherent in every human being is infinite. I also think people should be respected regardless of how great they are at their jobs. The least performing team member deserves the same respect as the highest-performing member. Yes, their pay may differ, and they may have varying access and benefits, but that shouldn't warrant disparities in respect, at least in the generic sense. No human is more human than another human. In this journey of life, we have to do better. We should actively try to create more smiles rather than hurt people. Yooo, there's already enough shege in this world. The truth is that things get to people. Like most people, I have a high threshold for stress and some other things, but you see disrespect—or even remotely attempting to influence my perception of myself negatively. For that one, I no go gree—I mean, we go legit die there. Sometimes the line between criticism (which can be positive but sounds harsh) and disrespect can be so thin that you'd think they're the same. I can't tell you to fight when you feel disrespected or to shout. However, you need to point it out in a respectful way. I'll be real here; some statements will hit you, and you'll get mad and repay disrespect with disrespect. We're humans, I guess. Yooo, you have to teach people how to treat you, so have that conversation. Kindly confront. Again, kindly confront Broken people break people. What you term a little disrespect can alter the course of someone's life. It's grossly unfair to use people's plight to oppress them. We blame the government for doing this, but we never really assess ourselves. Whether you're the boss, an intern, an OG in a company, a father, a student, a musician, or a tech bro, you are still a human being, so treat people as humans, not thrash. We've got people enduring a lot of disrespect just because they need those jobs to feed their families and to keep body and soul together. It's really messed up. Don't give people what you wouldn't want your kids or siblings to receive. I'm not saying we shouldn't hold people accountable, but we must treat people right. Sometimes we try to ascertain why people leave us, not knowing it's because we don't respect them or show them honour. People stay where they are valued and respected. The tables may never turn, so you can experience the hurt you give others, but you can take baby steps towards doing better. There are too many of us out here trying to revamp our lives and get back to loving ourselves and others. Stop trying to slow our pace because we won't be stopped. We will find you and pray for you! Let us breathe. Cheers to doing better...
