THE HALOED WOLF
<p style="text-align: justify;">The wolves prowls into the flock dress as a sheep, his disguise see-through; his teeth's sharp and his stomach rumbling. And yet the sheep made way for him like he's one of them.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">He lowers his head into the grass scouting for his prey, bidding time till their time was up. They move around him, eat before him, he lets them- a meal before his meal.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">The longer the wolf remained among them without attacking, the less they questioned why he was there.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">But one did.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">One stared at him too long.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">One watched him too closely.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Creased brows.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">analytical gaze.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">His see through disguise became hot</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Was it always this hot?</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">The one walked to the other sheep.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">He watched, ready to strike if he had been caught</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">The one whispered to others</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">"He looks weird"</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">The others shrugged</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><em>Ben is always weird.</em></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">“But his—”</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">“That's just Ben.”</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">“And his teeth—”</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">“You've always been dramatic.”</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">“I think he's—”</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">“He's harmless.”</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">The one stared back at Ben and back at his flock </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Maybe I am being dramatic </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">The one looked at Ben, He smiled. </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">He looked at his flock, they smiled back </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Maybe, they were right. </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Ben had always been Ben </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">They were right.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Until He struck. </p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Halo effect: We let one positive impression influence how we perceive everything else about a person.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Bandwagon effect: We are more likely to accept a belief when everyone around us seems to accept it.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Status quo bias: We tend to prefer what is familiar </p><p style="text-align: justify;">over changing what we already believe.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">The wolf didn't need a perfect disguise.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;">The flock's perception was enough</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br/></p>
