The knock at 2:17 - Part III
<p>In that stance, he saw himself seated on the bed,</p><p>with scribbles of a name etched across the wall.</p><p>The name looked familiar—too familiar—like that of his late wife, Abigail.</p><p><br/></p><p>The alternate Tunde spoke.</p><p>“You thought she died from a miscarriage? Haha… only a fool would believe that.”</p><p><br/></p><p>He stepped closer.</p><p>“Others versions of you have been here before. They all said the same thing. And now… you’re here too.”</p><p><br/></p><p>He paused, then smiled faintly.</p><p>“Well, if you must know… I killed her. Used her blood for a ritual.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The real Tunde staggered under the weight of those words.</p><p>“This isn’t real,” he muttered. “I’m dreaming. Abigail died from a miscarriage you’re lying. You didn’t</p><p><br/></p><p>Before he could finish, a door creaked open.</p><p><br/></p><p>The other Tunde turned toward it and said calmly,</p><p>“Go on. Take a look. Your wife’s headless body is in there… her pretty bosom too. I diced her up nicely for you. Just like I did for the 104 versions of you who came before.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The time read 2:27.</p><p>The room grew darker.</p><p><br/></p><p>Tunde forced himself forward, summoning what little courage he had left. As he stepped through the doorway, it slammed shut behind him</p><p><br/></p><p>and he fell.</p><p><br/></p><p>Down into another abyss.</p><p><br/></p><p>A trap.</p><p>A trap set by his own mind.</p><p>A punishment for ignoring himself… for never choosing himself.</p><p><br/></p><p>When he reached the bottom or what felt like one he saw it again.</p><p><br/></p><p>Himself.</p><p><br/></p><p>But this time, it was only a massive head, suspended in the air.</p><p><br/></p><p>There he was again, staring back at himself only his head this time.</p><p><br/></p><p>That… was the final test.</p><p><br/></p><p>This piece was written in collaboration with @Abiodun Ogunseye</p><p>Watch out for the next part 😜</p>
