THE “NONSENSE” IS THE POINT; maybe.

I’m trying to write.. and somewhere between the first sentence and the next, I stop and wonder;

“Does this actually make any sense?”

Because sometimes I have a thought that feels important in my head, but the moment I put it into words, it looks… silly.

Nonsensical, even.

Like watching a mother use her mouth to suck the mucus out of her child’s blocked nose. Ewww! 🤢

Some people would rather look away. Some would gag. Some would probably say, “eww! That is disgusting!”

And honestly?I understand them.

But, watch the mother.

She isn't thinking about how disgusting it is. She's thinking about her child breathing better.

The same thing that looks revolting to one person can look like love to another.

And that got me thinking;

“Is there actually a nonsense?” Or is something only nonsense because we haven't understood it yet?

A child can spend twenty minutes arranging bottle caps on the floor and be completely absorbed in it. An adult walks past and thinks, What a waste of time.

But perhaps the child isn't wasting time.

Perhaps they're building a world.

We do this with people too.

We call someone's dream unrealistic because we can't see what they see.

We call someone's silence strange because we don't know what happened before it.

We call someone's choices foolish because we don't understand the story that produced them.

Maybe nonsense is sometimes just “meaning we haven't discovered yet.”

And perhaps that's why I'm still writing this.

I don't know exactly where this thought is going. I don't even know if this makes sense.

But maybe it doesn't have to.

Maybe some thoughts deserve the chance to exist before they're required to explain themselves.

So…

If you've made it this far,

perhaps this wasn't nonsense after all.
