<p>We've always been made to believe that chickens are the kind of animals that stay on the ground and don't fly.</p><p><br/></p><p>Birds, on the other hand, can fly high and ride the wind like it's nothing.</p><p><br/></p><p>Of course, there are different kinds of birds with different abilities...</p><p><br/></p><p>But that's not the focus right now.</p><p><br/></p><p>The chicken grows up knowing that flying isn't really its thing.</p><p>The bird grows up knowing that flying is simply part of its nature.</p><p><br/></p><p>So which one is more likely to attempt flying?</p><p>The bird.</p><p><br/></p><p>Even when it's young, it will spread its wings and fly without needing anyone to convince it that it can.</p><p><br/></p><p>A few days ago, I took a break from my gadgets.</p><p>Well... not exactly.</p><p>I was charging my phone, so the break was kind of forced.😹</p><p><br/></p><p>I went outside to think and just do anything I could without my phone.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then I found myself staring at a group of chickens trying to get on top of a cage to sleep.</p><p>There were quite a number of them, and the flying attempts were chaotic.</p><p><br/></p><p>Exactly how you'd imagine a chicken to fly. 😭</p><p>They'd flap, Jump, Miss.</p><p>Try again.</p><p><br/></p><p>Some would make it.</p><p>Some wouldn't.</p><p><br/></p><p>I was enjoying this little chicken Olympics when a bird suddenly perched on the fence close by.</p><p><br/></p><p>It looked around for a while...</p><p>Then flew away.</p><p><br/></p><p>Just like that.</p><p><br/></p><p>And I started thinking.</p><p><br/></p><p><em>Who actually decided that chickens can't fly?</em></p><p><br/></p><p>Yes, there are physical reasons chickens aren't built for sustained flight like many other birds. Their bodies are heavier, their wings are different and most domestic chickens aren't particularly good flyers.</p><p>But then I started thinking about the other kind of limitation.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>The one in the mind.</strong></p><p><br/></p><p>Imagine a chicken that grows up surrounded by chickens that never attempt to fly.</p><p><br/></p><p>Nobody around it flies.</p><p>Nobody tells it to fly.</p><p>Everywhere it looks, everyone is walking.</p><p><br/></p><p>Would it even think about trying?</p><p><br/></p><p>Now imagine that same chicken growing up around birds.</p><p><br/></p><p>Watching them spread their wings.</p><p>Watching them rise above the ground.</p><p>Watching them do something it never thought was possible.</p><p><br/></p><p>Would it look at them and think,</p><p>“That's for birds. I'm a chicken.”</p><p><br/></p><p>I don't think so </p><p><br/></p><p>And I also don't think it would be as simple as that.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>And that's where humans come in.</p><p>We are not so different.</p><p><br/></p><p>The environment we grow up in can quietly teach us what is possible and what isn't.</p><p><br/></p><p>Sometimes nobody actually tells you that you can't do something.</p><p>You just never see anyone around you doing it.</p><p>So you don't attempt it.</p><p><br/></p><p>That's how some people spend their entire lives shrinking themselves.</p><p><br/></p><p>Not because they lack ability, but because they've become too familiar with the ground.</p><p><br/></p><p>They've spent so long around people who don't try that trying starts to look strange.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>You enter a room where nobody is building anything and suddenly having big dreams makes you look unrealistic.</p><p><br/></p><p>You enter a room where nobody thinks beyond survival and ambition starts looking like arrogance.</p><p><br/></p><p>You enter a room where everyone has already decided what is impossible and eventually, without noticing, you start using their limits to measure yourself.</p><p><br/></p><p>That's how powerful your environment can be.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>If you've never been around people who fly, you might genuinely believe flying is reserved for a selected few.</p><p><br/></p><p>Just like the chicken looking at the birds and thinking,</p><p>“That's their thing.”</p><p><br/></p><p>I'm convinced that if a chicken grew up around birds, attempting to fly would probably come much more naturally to it.</p><p><br/></p><p>And if a bird spent its entire life surrounded by chickens that never flew, who knows how often it would even think about spreading its wings?</p><p><br/></p><p>That's the point.</p><p><br/></p><p>A person with a flying mindset can still start thinking like a walker if they stay too long in a room where everyone is afraid to move.</p><p><br/></p><p>That's how powerful the environment is in shaping a person's mindset</p><p><br/></p><p>So...</p><p>Change your circle if they don't influence you to want more.</p><p>Change your circle!!!</p><p><br/></p><p>And also,</p><p>Be conscious of who you listen to.</p><p>Because people don't only influence your decisions.</p><p><br/></p><p>They can influence what you believe is possible for you.</p><p><br/></p><p>Be firm about what you stand for.</p><p>Be intentional about the future you're building.</p><p><br/></p><p>Get into rooms with experienced 'flyers'</p><p>Watch how they think.</p><p>Listen to how they talk.</p><p>See what they consider normal.</p><p><br/></p><p>Expose yourself to people who have already gone where you're trying to go.</p><p><br/></p><p>Build a flying mindset.</p><p>Try something different.</p><p>Enter unfamiliar rooms.</p><p><br/></p><p>Learn something you've never learnt before.</p><p><br/></p><p>Move.</p><p>Attempt flying....</p><p><br/></p><p>And you might be surprised by how much your capacity for more starts to expand.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><strong>This, I call The Chicken and Bird Theory.</strong></p><p><strong>~ Ealo, 2026</strong></p><p>Hehehe. 😹</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><em>Y'all bear with me.</em></p><p><em>I've been spending more time with animals than humans lately.</em></p><p>Brrr, I need to go outside.😭😹</p><p><img src="/media/inline_insight_image/1002968351.jpg"/></p>
At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.

— as well as the most active colleges (users attending/that attended those colleges)
The all-time contributors ranking is based on the Contributor Score, which is a measure of all the engagement and exposure a contributor's content receives.
The monthly contributors ranking tracks performance of a user's insights for the current month. The monthly and all-time scores are calcuated DIFFERENTLY.
This page also shows the top engagers on an all-time & monthly basis.
