THE PAWPAW NOBODY WANTED

The Pawpaw Nobody Wanted.

There was a pawpaw sitting quietly among the others.

Nothing about it demanded attention.

It wasn’t the biggest.

It wasn’t the brightest.

Its skin had a few marks on it, and honestly, it looked like the kind of fruit you would pick up, inspect for two seconds, and put back.

So everyone reached for the perfect ones.

The smooth ones.

The spotless ones.

The ones that looked good enough to be photographed.

And the pawpaw stayed there.

Day after day.

Until someone finally picked it up.

Not because it looked special.

But because they were hungry.

They cut it open.

And that was when they realized something uncomfortable:

the part everyone judged was never the part they were supposed to eat.

The skin had scars.

The outside had aged.

But inside, it was soft, sweet, and full of life.

It made me think about how strange reality is.

We spend so much time choosing people by their packaging.

Who looks successful.

Who speaks confidently.

Who dresses well.

Who seems happy.

Who has the right friends.

Who appears to have their life figured out.

And sometimes, the person we overlook is carrying the very thing we have been searching for.

Some people don't look like peace.

They look tired.

Some don't look like love.

They look guarded.

Some don't look like they are winning.

They are simply surviving quietly.

And some people have been rejected so many times that they stopped trying to convince anyone that there is something beautiful inside them.

But here is the part nobody tells you:

Not everything valuable is designed to look valuable from the outside.

A pawpaw doesn't become sweet because you compliment its skin.

And a person doesn't become worthy because you finally notice them.

Maybe that's why we shouldn't be so quick to judge what we don't understand.

Because sometimes...

the thing you keep overlooking isn't ordinary.

You just haven't opened it yet.
