The Straight Line
Listen to this Insight

*Beep... Beep... Beep...*

Look at my life through the lens of a heartbeat monitor - that flat, endless line.

Not dead... but not quite alive either.

I watch a child tracing a straight line in the sand - so perfect, so empty.

The ocean keeps rising to erase it, but the child keeps drawing. Again. And again.

Life was meant to be peaks and valleys - promotions and rejections, love found and love lost.

But this? This straight line? It's a prison without bars.

The smartest among us sit jobless.

The kindest hearts lie unloved.

We tell ourselves we're "adapting" as we methodically kill off hope - that dangerous, inconvenient emotion.

We forget how to cry but cling desperately to laughter.

We become experts at breathing... while forgetting what makes us feel alive.

Yet somewhere beneath this numbness... a stubborn part of us still watches the horizon. Waiting.

For the line to break. For the waves to come.

For the monitor to jump and remind us what a living pulse feels like.
