THIS IS OUR STORY
<p><em>We all promised ourselves that day</em></p><p><em>Hands intertwined in fear but unity</em></p><p><em>No matter what</em></p><p><em>Love, career, family</em></p><p><em>This had to stay between us...we couldn't let it get out</em></p><p><em>If it did...we would be ruined</em></p><p><em>We all were guilty of something and so it was the wisest choice ever.</em></p><p><em><br/></em></p><p><strong>IF NOT FOR THAT DAMN DIARY...YOU WOULDN'T EVEN BE READING THIS STORY</strong></p><p><br/></p><p>Five years back...</p><p><br/></p><p>Someone steps forward first. Green eyes, voice shaky with pain, the bruises on her neck still evident. "I watched it on How to Get Away with Murder...all we need to do is get our story right."</p><p>"Practice until it's perfect," blue eyes agrees.</p><p>"That's funny...you agreed so readily," green eyes says.</p><p><br/></p><p>A hint of suspicion builds in our midst and erupts.</p><p>I hear the fighting</p><p>Jesus...I know how this will end</p><p>I have college</p><p>I'm a straight A student</p><p>I can't afford this mess</p><p><br/></p><p>"SHUT UP...SHUT IT"</p><p>Everywhere goes quiet...I never scream.</p><p>"We are fucked, it doesn't matter who killed who...we are fucked," I stare into their eyes.</p><p>Green eyes</p><p>Blue eyes</p><p>Black eyes</p><p>They know that we know we all have something to hide</p><p><br/></p><p>"I need a saw, we'll chop—" I pause. "The body, and dispose of it."</p><p>I see them looking at me.</p><p>"The body?" blue eyes asks, face queasy with vomit. "You can't even say the name."</p><p>"You self-righteous dipshit" I throw his accusation right back "The name'—what happened to your nouns?"</p><p><br/></p><p>Let's get to work</p><p>And we all do</p><p>No one speaks—just the saw screaming against bone</p><p>The stench of too much blood fills the air, my stomach rolls</p><p>Two hours later</p><p>Human remains, cut and sealed into different baking bags</p><p><br/></p><p>They look at me</p><p>I hate being the smartest</p><p>"Look, I know we're all scared shitless right now, but we'll be fine. There's no reason for anyone to ruin their life over this."</p><p><br/></p><p>There's one person who hasn't spoken at all, and I realize just how fragile our plan is...we all need to agree or we'll fall apart</p><p>Black eyes suddenly looks down and stares at something, then picks it up.</p><p>"Oh for God's sake, put that down!!!!"</p><p>"Souvenir," they whisper back.</p><p>I turn to see what was picked up.</p><p>I gulp.</p><p>Brown...lifeless eyes.</p><p>I don't say anything though...to each his own.</p><p><br/></p><p>I lean forward, and the other three do the same. "Okay...this is our story."</p><p><br/></p>
