YOU ARE JUDGING THE FLOUR;

Who else gets irked at the idea of drinking raw egg? Like, the kind they tell you to whip together and drink because of some prescription or another. I cannot be the only one. Ewww.

I also don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who wakes up and says, “You know what? I’m craving baking soda today.” Or flour. Maybe you? Tell me, what does it taste like?

Don’t punch me yet.

You love cake though, don’t you? You love it fluffy, soft, sweet and succulent. You can leave a party angry because they packed jollof rice but somehow forgot to give you cake.🌚 Maybe chocolate is your thing, or vanilla, or strawberry. Whatever works for you.

Now look at this.

Egg, flour and baking soda are not particularly exciting on their own. You don't sit down with a bowl of flour and say, “Ahh, what a delicious meal.” Tell me.. do you? I need to know.

But when you put them together, add the right ingredients, mix them properly, put them through heat. Like a magic, you have something people can hardly resist.

CAKE.

Interesting, isn't it?

The ingredients did not become valuable because they were beautiful individually. They became something different through a process.

Look at life from that perspective.

Maybe you're looking at the parts separately and wondering, “What exactly is this?”

This delay, rejection. This season of uncertainty. This failure. This little opportunity that doesn't look like much.

Everything looks scattered. Nothing tastes good. And because the individual parts don't make sense, you've concluded that the whole thing won't either.

But what if you're judging the cake while you're still looking at the flour? Because here's something about cake:

You don't put flour, eggs and baking soda together and immediately get something you can eat.

There is mixing. There is waiting. There is heat. There is transformation. And while it's in the oven, you can't exactly open the door every thirty seconds and scream, “WHAT IS THIS THING BECOMING?”

You have to let the process do what the process does. Sho get?

So, maybe your life doesn't make sense right now.

That's okay. Some things only reveal their purpose when they become part of the whole.

You know now. Don't throw away your life because you don't like some of its parts. Don't call the recipe a failure because the ingredients look strange.

Keep on keeping on. And when the heat comes, don't assume you're being destroyed.

Think about it, you might just be becoming something you couldn't have been as the individual parts.

Pinky promise?

Next time you eat cake, remember.. You may not love all the parts of your story.

But that doesn't mean you won't love what they're becoming.
