<p><h1>YOURS INSINCERELY</h1><p><br/></p>Be Professional</p><p>When robotism supersedes humanity</p><p><br/></p><p>Be Professional </p><p>When schizophrenia is an accepted norm</p><p><br/></p><p>Be Professional </p><p>Empathy and functionality are like oil and water</p><p>No blend in the system</p><p><br/></p><p>A clean-cut box for your petty emotions</p><p>All work and no feel</p><p>No room to be real and human</p><p><br/></p><p>Society has its norms</p><p>Partial view of what is important</p><p>Results over process</p><p><br/></p><p>We stand for a professional system</p><p>Swallow your thoughts and become the robot of the system</p><p>Faulty errors aren't allowed,</p><p>Only follow the dictated coding or be flushed out of the system</p><p>YOURS INSINCERELY.</p><p><br/></p><h2>Author's thoughts:</h2><p>As the work clearly points to, Work life or work life balance in general can be daunting. Especially if you work in a field that requires constant interaction and social mingling. The constant distinction of 'work emotions' from 'personal emotions' can be draining for most, especially when new to the corporate work setting. </p><p>You encounter a colleague that you most definitely have clashes with while working but when the work clock turns off, you're supposed to set aside the obvious work emotional tension and see them as an individual separate from the work environment. When it's not like the person has two different personalities, 'Work personality' and 'Off-Work personality'. Normal humans tend to have singular personality (which in of itself is complex but usually narrowed down by certain similar principles), so knowing when to draw the line on a work beef with a colleague or client that seems to be hard to get along with or quite unfriendly can get a bit blurry because you can't seem to see how a person can be so different from their work persona.<br/><br/>The poem points to the dilemma that can one be 'professional' by tucking away their true personality for the sake of work and stomach the obvious flaws in judgement from the other person, or is pointing out the issue (respectfully so, as it is indeed a work setting) a definite faux pas in the work setting.</p><p><br/></p><p>Where is the line and how is being professional treated as though it requires you to become a different person or pardon certain social/moral flaws in the name of professionalism. Would like to hear the readers take on the poem.</p><p><br/></p>
