<p><br/></p><p>The first thing Amara noticed about the house was the door.</p><p><br/></p><p>Not the broken gate.</p><p>Not the peeling paint.</p><p>Not even the strange silence that seemed to swallow every sound around it.</p><p><br/></p><p>The door.</p><p><br/></p><p>It was at the end of the hallway, painted black, with a silver handle that looked strangely new compared to everything else.</p><p><br/></p><p>And it was always locked.</p><p><br/></p><p>“What's inside?” Amara asked on her first night.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her aunt stopped washing the plate in her hand.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Nothing.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Amara frowned. “Then why is it locked?”</p><p><br/></p><p>Her aunt didn't answer.</p><p><br/></p><p>Instead, she dried her hands, walked past Amara, and locked the front door.</p><p><br/></p><p>That was when Amara noticed something.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her aunt had locked three doors that night.</p><p><br/></p><p>The front door.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her bedroom door.</p><p><br/></p><p>And the black door at the end of the hallway.</p><p><br/></p><p>But Amara was certain she hadn't seen her aunt go anywhere near it.</p><p><br/></p><p>That night, she couldn't sleep.</p><p><br/></p><p>At exactly 2:13 a.m., she heard it.</p><p><br/></p><p>Knock.</p><p><br/></p><p>She sat up.</p><p><br/></p><p>Silence.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then—</p><p><br/></p><p>Knock. Knock.</p><p><br/></p><p>It was coming from the hallway.</p><p><br/></p><p>Amara slowly opened her bedroom door.</p><p><br/></p><p>The hallway was empty.</p><p><br/></p><p>She took one step forward.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then another.</p><p><br/></p><p>The black door was still there.</p><p><br/></p><p>Locked.</p><p><br/></p><p>She almost turned back when she heard a whisper from behind it.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Amara…”</p><p><br/></p><p>Her blood ran cold.</p><p><br/></p><p>She knew that voice.</p><p><br/></p><p>It was her mother's.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her mother had been dead for six years.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Amara…”</p><p><br/></p><p>The voice came again.</p><p><br/></p><p>She reached for the handle.</p><p><br/></p><p>Before her fingers touched it, her aunt's voice came from behind her.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Don't.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Amara froze.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her aunt stood at the other end of the hallway, staring at her.</p><p><br/></p><p>For the first time, Amara noticed the fear in her eyes.</p><p><br/></p><p>Not anger.</p><p><br/></p><p>Not surprise.</p><p><br/></p><p>Fear.</p><p><br/></p><p>“What is behind this door?” Amara whispered.</p><p><br/></p><p>Her aunt looked at the door.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then back at her.</p><p><br/></p><p>“Something that knows your name.”</p><p><br/></p><p>The lights went out.</p><p><br/></p><p>And from behind the door came three slow knocks.</p><p><br/></p><p>Knock.</p><p><br/></p><p>Knock.</p><p><br/></p><p>Knock.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then a voice whispered—</p><p><br/></p><p>“She's not supposed to know yet.”</p><p><br/></p><p>Amara turned toward her aunt.</p><p><br/></p><p>But her aunt wasn't looking at the door anymore.</p><p><br/></p><p>She was staring at Amara.</p><p><br/></p><p>Like she had just realized something.</p><p><br/></p><p>Like she had been hiding a secret for years.</p><p><br/></p><p>And then she whispered:</p><p><br/></p><p>“Because, Amara…”</p><p><br/></p><p>Her voice trembled.</p><p><br/></p><p>“You've been behind that door before.”</p>

For the Top Engagers Track, we award the top 3 people who engage the most with other user's content via
comments.
The winners are picked using the "Top Monthly Engagers" tab on the rankings page.
Most Engaged Content
The Most Engaged Content recognizes users whose content received the most engagement during the month.
We pick the top 3.

Contributor Rankings
The Rankings/Leaderboard shows the Top 20 contributors and engagers on TwoCents a monthly and all-time basis
— as well as the most active colleges (users attending/that attended those colleges)
The all-time contributors ranking is based on the Contributor Score, which is a measure of all the engagement and exposure a contributor's content receives.
The monthly contributors ranking tracks performance of a user's insights for the current month. The monthly and all-time scores are calcuated DIFFERENTLY.
