It was almost evening around 3 to 4 ,Mr/Mrs Balogun were going out for a church meeting, and they dropped their daughter Cassandra at her friends junction, to take a walk to Tiana's place her best friend who is like family, since it is not far from the junction .

Cassandra went to Tiana's place as an evidence but she left very early to Eni's place( her boyfriend ),to end the relationship.

EARLIER THAT EVENING

Cassandra stood outside Eni's gate, staring at her phone.

She had spent the entire journey rehearsing what she wanted to say. She had promised herself she wouldn't change her mind this time, no matter what Eni said.

Her relationship with Eni had not always been bad. When they first met, he was attentive, funny, and affectionate. He remembered little things about her and knew how to make her laugh even when she was having a terrible day.

But there was another side to him.

Eni had an anger problem. Sometimes, the smallest disagreement could turn into a serious argument. He would raise his voice, say hurtful things, and later apologise as though the apology could erase everything.

Cassandra was tired.

She was eighteen, and at twenty-three, Eni was five years older than her. She had hoped that being with someone older would mean being with someone who understood how to handle disagreements maturely.

Instead, she often found herself walking on eggshells around him.

Her phone buzzed.

Eni: Babe, are you coming?

Cassandra: I'm outside your gate.

Eni: Okay. I'm coming to get you.

A few seconds later, the gate opened.

Cassandra walked in, greeted the gateman, and followed the familiar path to the main house.

Eni was waiting at the entrance.

"Babe!" he exclaimed, pulling her into a hug.

She gave him a brief smile, but she didn't return the hug.

He noticed.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing. Can we talk?"

Eni's smile faded slightly.

"Of course. Come inside."

His parents had travelled to Ibadan for a burial, leaving him at home with the house help and the gateman. It was the perfect opportunity for the two of them to spend time together without his parents interrupting them.

At least, that was what Eni had thought when he invited her over.

Neither of them knew that the evening would take a very different turn.

They walked into his bedroom.

Cassandra remained standing near the door while Eni sat on the edge of his bed.

He looked up at her.

"Why are you standing there like a stranger? Come and sit with me."

She shook her head.

"Eni, I need to tell you something."

He patted the space beside him.

"Okay, babe. I'm listening."

She took a deep breath.

"Eni, I'm sorry, but I don't think we should continue this relationship."

For a moment, he stared at her as though he hadn't understood what she had said.

"What?"

"I want us to break up."

He stood up immediately.

"Break up? Cassandra, what are you talking about?"

"I'm serious, Eni. I can't do this anymore."

He moved closer to her.

"Do what? What have I done now?"

She swallowed.

"It's not about what you've done today. It's everything that's been happening between us. The way you get angry over little things. The way you speak to me whenever you're upset. I'm tired of it."

Eni ran a hand over his face.

"Cassandra, come on. We've talked about this before."

"Exactly! We've talked about it so many times, but nothing changes."

"Babe, please."

"No, Eni. You don't understand. Every time you get angry, I start wondering what I've done wrong. I have to think about every word I say because I'm scared you'll get upset. Is that how a relationship is supposed to feel?"

He shook his head.

"No. No, that's not what I want for us."

"But that's what it's becoming."

He reached for her hand.

"Look at me, please."

She hesitated before meeting his eyes.

"I love you, Cassandra. You know I do."

"Then why do you keep treating me like this?"

"I know I've made mistakes. I know I get angry sometimes, but I'm going to work on it. I promise you."

"You've promised me before."

"This time is different."

"How?"

He opened his mouth, then closed it again.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then he tried again.

"Tell me what you want me to do. I'll do it. If you want me to stop shouting, I'll stop. If you want me to give you space when I'm angry, I'll do that. Just don't leave me."

Cassandra's eyes grew moist.

"Eni, I don't want to keep coming back to the same problem. I want peace. I want to be able to tell you how I feel without worrying about your reaction."

Please, I promise you this is for the best ,Cassandra said .

But the next reaction from Eni was the one she always knew.

His face became swollen as he came closer to her the more she moved backwards, pressure her close to the wall ,trying to caress her and making her fall for his little manipulation, but her mind was made up and she didn't give in , so she pulled herself from his grip and try to run but before she could reach for the door ,Eni threw the flower vase in his room towards her ,aiming at her head and the room went silent as he stood there like a statue.
