"Why are there cameras everywhere?" Every turn I made, my eyes met a camera.

Do you know the funniest part? I actually brought food to work that day. Since it was my first day, I didn't know where they sold food, so I said to myself, "Let me not be left stranded." But I couldn't even eat it, because my eyes kept meeting the cameras.

If you were the one sitting down watching the footage, you would think, "Why is this person constantly looking at the camera? Is she trying to steal something?" But I just wasn't comfortable. I couldn't do anything right. If I looked at my phone, my eyes went to a camera. If I turned to my side, there was another one. I was just trying to stay calm.

Meanwhile, my colleagues were coming to meet me. "Welcome to the company!" "Oh, you're beautiful. What state are you from?" They were getting to know me. With each person who came to say hi, I noticed they were all guys. I was like, "Hold up, am I the only girl here?" That was when I confirmed that I was the only girl in the company. The rest were guys, and I was like, "Ewo, Chim, why me?" How was I going to cope among all these angels that fell from heaven, because they were all so handsome? But I said, "Let's just see how this turns out."

Eventually, we were done with our hi's and hello's. One of the guys in particular sat with me because he noticed I kept looking at the camera. He walked up to me and asked, "Are you okay?" I just had to confess. "Actually, I'm not okay. With cameras everywhere, I'm concerned and uncomfortable, and I can't do anything. I want to adjust my skirt, I can't. I want to do this, I can't."

He laughed and said, "Unfortunately, these cameras weren't always here. But the last person they had actually stole something from the company that cost them almost ₦1 million."

I said, "Oh, that's quite sad." Me and the guy vibed to an extent, and we were cool. I also asked about the boss, and he told me I wouldn't get to see the boss all the time, because the boss is not always available. I said, "Okay."

What happened next was that my manager sent me a text assigning me a task. I quickly said bye to my new colleague, rushed to my system, turned it on and started working. I did everything I needed to do and printed it out. After printing, I walked to the printer and pulled the file out.

Meanwhile, the person I was supposed to give it to was already outside the office. So I went to help the man come upstairs, made him sit in the reception, and went back into the office to get the file. I arranged it, wrote all the necessary info as I'd been directed, and gave the file to the man.

After that, I was so happy. I was like, "Ah, finally! I did something today!" I was so proud. I couldn't wait to go home and tell my mom about my first assigned task and how I performed it.

So I sat down and said, "Let me even eat something, since my colleague has put my mind at rest to an extent." The first thing that came up on my phone was the work message my manager had sent before I went to the system. It told me exactly what to do. And that was when I saw that I had made an error with the amount.

Remember, it's a clearing and forwarding company, so they were already taking the file back to the terminal. I saw that there was an additional 20, but because there was a full stop, and the 20 was on the next line, I didn't see it.

I stood up, and the spoon (because I was eating rice) fell from my hand, and I started running.

Something tells me Series 05 is going to be one to remember. There’s a whole story behind that day, and trust me, I can't wait to take you all through it. Some moments are too interesting to leave untold🤭.

Thank you for engaging so far. ❤️
