HER STORY: I GUESS THIS IS GOODBYE

I couldn’t find him up there, so I started drinking too.

‎Who knows, I could find him in one of these sachets, cans or bottles.

‎

‎Where are my parents in the midst of all this saga?

‎Mom’s mantra: “Honey, give her some time, she’s still grieving, give her some time.”

‎Dad’s mantra: “For how long? It’s been five years, for how long?”

‎Yope, it’s been five years already.

‎Five years of intense emptiness, five years of…

‎You know what, let’s not get emotional.

‎

‎On my way to my supposed-to-be in-laws’ place for the memorial service.

‎In other words, on my way to act like my boyfriend didn’t get killed in front of me.

‎On my way to act like my hands weren't covered in his blood while he fought for his life and lost to death.

‎What a weak boy, lost the only battle that mattered.

‎Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

‎His was his life, how gruesome.

‎

‎Black shades, black heels, and a black two-piece suit.

‎You’d think I played The Devil Wears Prada.

‎You know what they say: “When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.”

‎I never thought I’d look good in all black—thanks, boo.

‎

‎Of course I can’t forget my black purse,

‎filled with cheap weed.

‎What? We listen and we don’t…

‎Yope.

‎

‎The same sad shit every year. I’m quite sure he didn’t even fancy things like this when he was down here.

‎I don’t know about now; maybe She’s changed him.

‎People often change a lot after death, I think.

‎I haven’t died before, so I wouldn’t know.

‎Maybe when She calls and I decide to answer, I’d let you know what we talked about.

‎

‎Went to his final resting place and had a word with him.

‎And shared a blunt with him.

‎And told him things I wouldn’t tell anyone in my right senses.

‎Told him how my dad wants to ship me away to a whole new state: “a clean slate,” he said it'd be.

‎Start therapy, go back to school, get a job, you know, life again.

‎I would have told him to come, but…

‎

‎This is goodbye, I guess…
