I HATE HER pt2
<p><br/></p><p>I stared at the message for almost five minutes.</p><p>“I need to tell you.”</p><p>My first thought was simple:</p><p>What now?</p><p>I wanted to reply, but pride held my fingers back.</p><p>Then another message came.</p><p>“I know you hate me. Maybe I deserve it.”</p><p>I almost laughed.</p><p>At least she finally understood.</p><p>I typed, “So why did you text me?”</p><p>She didn't reply immediately.</p><p>Three minutes.</p><p>Five minutes.</p><p>Then her typing appeared again.</p><p>“Because you never knew the truth.”</p><p>I froze.</p><p>The truth?</p><p>What truth could possibly change anything?</p><p>She continued.</p><p>“You thought I left because I stopped caring.”</p><p>I read that sentence twice.</p><p>Then a third time.</p><p>Because that was exactly what I believed.</p><p>Months ago, she had walked away without properly explaining herself. No argument. No warning. Just distance.</p><p>And I had spent months building my own explanation.</p><p>She found someone else.</p><p>She got tired of me.</p><p>She never really cared.</p><p>Sometimes, the mind does that.</p><p>When people don't give us answers, we create our own.</p><p>And once we believe our version long enough, it starts feeling like fact.</p><p>I typed:</p><p>“Then tell me why.”</p><p>This time, her reply came almost immediately.</p><p>“Because I thought you would hate me less if you thought I chose to leave.”</p><p>I stopped breathing for a second.</p><p>That sentence didn't make sense.</p><p>So I asked:</p><p>“What does that even mean?”</p><p>She sent one final message.</p><p>“You remember what happened that night, right?”</p><p>I did.</p><p>Of course I did.</p><p>That was the night everything changed.</p><p>But there was something about that night I had never questioned.</p><p>Something I had completely misunderstood.</p><p>And now, after all these months, she was finally about to tell me what really happened.</p><p>©️ Sammy Góld</p>
