I had a thought. We all know one of man’s main assignments is to be fruitful and multiply. Cute, right? Yeah. So I was thinking, about 24 or 25 years ago, I was probably just chilling in heaven. One of the souls waiting for their turn to come to earth. Maybe I was sipping champagne if that’s allowed in heaven. Actually, scratch that. I was obviously sipping the blood of Jesus. Definitely allowed. My bestie was probably Michael because who else? Gabriel was probably somewhere in the background trying to make sure Michael and I weren’t up to something mischievous. Then one random man and woman decided it was a good idea to answer the “be fruitful and multiply” call and request a baby girl. And God probably looked across heaven, spotted me, sighed and said, “You have stressed Me enough. Go and stress them on earth.” Michael probably cried because why wouldn’t he? Imagine your best friend being separated from you and sent to earth. But who are we to question the will of God? So, apparently, I was called to service. And we’ve already established that I was perfectly fine where I was. I was chilling. I had no earthly responsibilities, no bills, no deadlines, no bank account that would randomly humble me. But I was chosen. And I thought, you know what? If I have been called to this assignment, then I might as well do my job properly. A job worth doing is worth doing well. There is, however, one tiny problem. These people are stressing me back. Because I have only a few demands. I don’t think I’m asking for too much. First, they have to provide all my needs. I understand that the child-bearers are mortals. I understand that they cannot do it forever. They have their own limitations, responsibilities and earthly struggles. But this is exactly why I am taking this matter to the original Creator and the One who chose me for the job. Abba Father. The O.G. Daddy. Because let’s be honest, I enjoyed Your care when I was in heaven. I understand that Michael and I could have been a little handful, and maybe You thought it was best to separate us because You know all things, plan all things and created all things. Fine. I accept the deployment. But surely there should be some sort of welfare package attached to this assignment? Because right now, I am on earth trying to fulfil my purpose and the people responsible for my earthly maintenance are also struggling. And I am looking at You like, “Sir… respectfully… this is Your project.” I have needs. I have plans. I have things I want to do. Things I actually need to do. And somehow, my bank account keeps looking at me like we are both waiting for somebody else to make the first move. So, Abba, I have come to make a formal request. Please provide. I am not asking for too much. I am simply asking that the One who sent me on this earthly assignment should provide the resources required for me to successfully complete it. Because if You sent me here, surely You know I need provisions for the journey. And I refuse to believe that the same God who planned my arrival, created me, watched me leave heaven, and trusted these two mortals with my earthly deployment would now leave me stranded on Earth without resources. So yes, I will do my job properly. I will stress the child-bearers. I will fulfil my purpose. I will become everything I was sent here to become. But, Abba… Please fund the assignment. Because the summary of this very long theological explanation is actually very simple: I am broke and I need money. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. Amen.
