SHE SLAPPED ME SO I SLAPPED HER BACK😂

She slapped me. I looked at her. She looked at me. For about five seconds, neither of us said anything. I was waiting for her to explain herself. She was waiting for me to apologize. For what? Even I didn't know. 😂 Then I slapped her back. Not hard o. Just enough to let her know that customer service was still available. The way she looked at me after that slap... I knew I had made a terrible career decision. 😭 She said, “You actually slapped me back?” I said, “But you slapped me first.” She said, “You were supposed to know I was angry!” Ah. Know how? Am I a Wi-Fi router? How was I supposed to connect to your anger? 😂 Then she started explaining how the slap wasn't really about the slap. It was about what happened before the slap. Which apparently wasn't about that either. It was about something I did three weeks ago. Something I didn't even remember. At that point, I realized I wasn't in an argument. I was attending a court case where the evidence was stored in her memory. 😭 And that's when I understood something about people. Sometimes, we don't fight because we hate each other. We fight because we expect the other person to understand things we haven't even said. We get angry because they didn't notice. We become quiet because they didn't ask. We say “I'm fine” and secretly hope they know we're lying. Then when they believe us, we get even more angry. Humans are actually very funny. We want people to understand our feelings, but sometimes we don't even understand them ourselves. Sometimes all we really want is for somebody to notice that our “I'm okay” doesn't sound like our normal “I'm okay.” To ask again. To sit down. To listen. Not because they're guilty. Just because they care. And maybe that's what makes some people difficult to let go of. Not because they were perfect. But because somewhere between the arguments, the laughter, the annoying habits, the misunderstandings and the “leave me alone” that secretly means “please don't leave me alone”... they became home. You can be angry with someone and still want them beside you. You can be disappointed and still care. You can argue over something incredibly stupid and five minutes later be laughing about something even more stupid. That's the strange thing about real connections. They're rarely perfect. They're just honest enough to survive the imperfect parts. Anyway... If she slaps me again, I'm not slapping her back. I've matured. I'll just block her. For 17 minutes. Then unblock her because who am I deceiving? 😂
