I have always looked for excuses to be outside, but my Father always clothed me in His arms, whispering into my ears stories of His love for me.

Hmmm… the love story was very interesting to hear.

“You mean You died for me, and I can still see You and be with You? Are You not angry that I sinned?”

Very divine! 🥹

I pushed it to the back of my mind, and then He told me the grace story.

It hit very hard too. I had questions, but I sha kept quiet. 😂

Days later, He told me the story of the prodigal son.

What?! 😭

“You mean after you received your inheritance, you came back home?”

In my heart, I was like, “Ole!” 😂

(That word means thief.)

I somehow felt for the second brother who never left his father.

“So he will now be sharing the love again?” 😩

Well, I accepted the story because He had already told me about the grace story.

Then I started getting bored.

I was still in my Father’s arms, but I wanted more. I started peeping outside, small small. 😩

Just a little look, and I’d come back in.

Wait… you thought it was the prodigal son’s story that made me start peeping, abi?

No! 😭

I had been nurturing those thoughts in my heart long before then.

And eventually, those thoughts became reality.

Every morning, before my Father woke up, I would peep very well to my satisfaction! 😂

I enjoyed it very much.

After looking, I would come back to my Father’s stories—life-changing ones oo—but I didn’t listen deeply enough to let them sink in.

Then one day, I didn’t just peep and look.

I opened the door.

And my Father came out immediately and asked me to come back in.

I was baffled and shocked!

“How did You know?”

Then I remembered that He had told me one of His names:

El Roi — The God who sees me. 🧎

Suddenly, a mountain of guilt came over me. 🙂

I started feeling like Judas—betraying intimacy after being so close. 🥹

But He told me to move closer.

I remembered the love story.

I remembered the grace story.

And I went back into His arms.

And I stopped thinking about going out again.

I even gave myself a handshake. 😂🤧

You think it’s not possible, abi?

There is a whole world of depth, intimacy, grace, love, and adventure in knowing God.

Sometimes, what we call a “boring life” is simply a life where we haven’t yet discovered the beauty of what is already in the Father’s arms.

And when we find ourselves peeping outside, may we remember the One whose arms have always been open to us.

Because the answer to our wandering is not to abuse grace, but to return to the One who gives it.

"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid."

Romans 6: 1-2
