Grand Finally The Palace Lie The large palace hall was filled with a deep, heavy silence. Everyone stood perfectly still, watching the Queen as she turned her eyes toward Chika. The Queen’s voice was as cold as ice when she spoke, and every single person in the room heard her clearly. You tried to steal a reward that you did not earn, and you tried to hurt a girl who worked with a pure heart, the Queen said. Her face showed no sign of anger, but she was very firm. She was a ruler who believed in fairness, and she knew that lies must always have consequences. Chika stood trembling. She looked at the floor, wishing she could hide. All her pride was gone. She had wanted to look like a hero, but now everyone knew she was a liar. She felt very small as the Queen continued to look at her with eyes that saw right through her story. The villagers in the room did not make a sound. They were waiting to see what the Queen would decide. The Queen stood up and walked toward the guards. She gestured toward the door where the rewards were kept. She commanded the guards to take the house keys and the ten bags of rice that were meant for the winner.
