To Lurk in the Darkness

TO LURK IN THE DARKNESS

Light and darkness are two parallel lines that can never meet.

One outshines the other;

Light outshines darkness, and darkness cannot comprehend it.

Everybody wants to be in the light,

Shining and overcoming.

The light is visible,

Praised, seen and outstanding.

There is joy always in light.

Let us talk about its enemy – darkness.

Oftentimes we try to understand the gravity of what it is like to lurk in the dark.

What sort of feeling dwells there?

Deep down the dark path,

Someone chases and haunts the soul.

What does it want from her?

She is exhausted by this ghostly torment of the soul.

She can hardly distinguish the heavy atmosphere and how it feels down here.

Her heart is darker than a soot-black pot.

Pleasures, fame and money are all inevitable,

Tired of pursuing an illusion that seems like a reality –

It can never satisfy me!

Weary, exhausted and depleted,

Her body warns her.

There is a superior calling that is above her power and demands,

Fading away bit by bit; every second she can feel it.

Living in the shadow of the past,

In her quiet world she is always down and blue,

Filled with thoughts she cannot stop imagining.

Who could understand how dark it is here?

It is an endless game within the soul,

Fighting and waging war,

Struggling against what she would never believe is for her.

People think she is fine, but she is not.

Just wait a little; you would observe the difference in her mind.

She stalks a little,

To desist from revealing the dark in her.

Fiercely staring at people,

She can never have a friend,

Someone to share her feelings with.

Tired of companionship.

A burning heart cries in despair:

When would she ever come out of this entrapped world she is in?

I see every day what my eyes cannot behold and my mouth cannot utter.

I have travelled thus far; can I still come out?

Her instinct lied to her.

She just wants to live a better life – extraordinary.

What is within is greater than what people feel and think about her.

Utter despair.

Desperation to escape, but

No track to rely on as a route.

Can one like her regain her confidence?

She needs to realise her self-worth.

In her next life, she would never dream of a reality like this,

Neither for anyone nor herself.

She wishes she could restart her life and be reborn.

The history she has made in this generation, she would trade for anything, even with her soul.

She is tired of this place; it looks as though she is the only one here,

In a thick forest with every kind of wild beast that may swallow her up,

And she cannot relate to them all.

She would forgive herself when she becomes better,

But now, lurking in the dark is her biggest dream which she rejected a long time ago.

She believes that one day she would find true light that would source from Heaven or the sky.

This light would lead her out – friends of light.

This would now make sense to her, just as her inner instinct also told her.

Often shamed and rejected, but in that very moment, it will all be forgotten.

If this were a dream, she had better wake up, or even if it is death, she deserves another chance.
