Isn't it funny how life works?

Life throws things at you. Challenges, circumstances, problems you never asked for, situations you don't even know how to navigate. And while you're trying to figure things out, while you're barely keeping your head above water, life keeps throwing more at you.

As if what you're carrying isn't already heavy enough.

And the funny thing? Life doesn't care. It doesn't pause to ask if you're okay. It doesn't give you a break because you've had enough. It doesn't even offer you a little help to make the burden easier to carry. You just have to keep going, somehow, even when you don't know how.

But then, one day, you get tired.

You're tired of suffering. Tired of waiting for things to get better. Tired of doing the right things and watching them lead you nowhere. So you begin to consider other options. Options you probably wouldn't have considered if life had been a little kinder to you.

And maybe, just maybe, you take the wrong path.

Suddenly, things begin to work out. You can breathe again. You can afford the things you couldn't afford before. For the first time in a long time, life doesn't feel like it's constantly trying to break you.

And then, suddenly, life remembers you exist.

Now, it cares about how you got there. Now, it has a problem with your choices. Now, it wants you to pay for the path you took. It brings consequences, judgment, and suffering, as though it has been waiting patiently for the perfect moment to remind you that you did something wrong.

And I can't help but wonder: where was all this concern when I was suffering?

Where was this energy when I was struggling to survive? Where was this urgency when I needed help, when I needed an opportunity, when I needed just one thing to go right?

Why was my suffering none of your business, but my survival suddenly became your concern?

Again, I'm not saying the wrong path becomes right simply because someone is desperate. But sometimes, I wonder how many people would make different choices if life gave them better options in the first place.

Because it's easy to condemn someone for the way they got out of a difficult situation when you weren't there to witness how difficult it was to stay.

And perhaps that's one of the cruelest ironies of life: it can leave you alone to deal with the pain that pushes you to the edge, then show up with consequences when you finally cross the line.

When you needed help, you were on your own.

But when you made a mistake trying to save yourself, suddenly, you were no longer on your own. Suddenly, life had all the time in the world for you.

And somehow, that's the part that hurts the most.
