Have you ever heard someone say, "It's my mouth, I can say whatever I like!" 😭... Oh yes you can... In fact I hear say once them born baby and the baby refuse cry them go beat am 😭 so it's even a crime if you don't wanna talk 🥲 Kai nawa o 😂.... Oya let's go on... Yeah, let's talk about *freedom of speech* ... I remember in secondary school then when I first heard about this in civic education... I was like oh wow... Even if the president is here I can always say anything after all I can talk anyhow not until... 😩😂 Freedom of speech is a fundamental right that allows us to express our opinions and ideas without undue interference.. In Nigeria, this right is protected by Section 39 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) But... Before you type that post Before you record that voice note Before you insult someone online Before you make that allegation Before you decide to “drag” somebody publicly... PAUSE. Ask yourself: 🥢 Can I prove what I’m about to say? 🥢 How would I feel if this person decided to take legal action? 🥢 Am I exercising my right, or infringing on somebody else’s right? <blockquote>...Having the right to speak doesn't mean you're free from the consequences of everything you say.. yes you read that right... I can guarantee you freedom of speech, but sey you see freedom after speech, that I can't guarantee ... 😂</blockquote> Your words can encourage someone, destroy someone's reputation, spread false information, or even cause serious harm.. And guess what? The Bible has something to say about that, too! "Death and life are in the power of the tongue..." Prov 18:21 God gave us the ability to speak, but wisdom teaches us to think before we speak.. Freedom of speech is important, Yes You have a voice, Use it! Speak up against injustice, defend what is right, and express yourself but remember that freedom comes with responsibility too... Mind what you say, your choice of words really matters! Here I am giving you free legal awareness before your mouth go give you expensive legal problem 😂... So do you think people nowadays exercise their freedom of speech responsibly, or has social media made people confuse freedom of speech with freedom to insult others? 😂Happy weekend guys...
