30 Days of Becoming Curious Again

‎So this is (going to be?) my first ever series on TwoCents, and no one is more shocked than I am that it isn't one of the stories I've been working on. It's actually more like a diary entry. Or a journal. Whatever 😭

‎I've been feeling a bit down recently, thinking about how different I am from how I was when I was a kid.

‎I was so active.

‎My brother and I would spend hours watching different Mister Maker and Art Attack episodes and then try to recreate them in real life. We made lighthouses out of newspapers and tissue paper cores, skeleton mosaics with cotton buds, and all sorts of things I probably wouldn't have the patience to attempt now.

‎I drew anything and everything, every single day. I played boardgames like Scrabble and Monopoly Deal when I was bored. I went through 200-page novels every other day. I even had a small card-making business in JSS.

‎And I finished my first 100k-word novel in two months.

‎Two months.

‎Granted, the book didn't really make much sense, but at least I wrote it 😂

‎That girl though, she wanted to be everything, and she sort of was.

‎And then there's me now 🫠

‎Obviously, life changes. People get busy. Work, responsibilities, all of that. But it's still safe to say I'm a lot different from who I used to be.

‎I don't think I've picked up a pencil this year. I've read maybe... six? Seven? novels so far. I start things and stop before I'm even halfway done. I've been stuck writing the same novel for almost a year😭

(‎That one pains me the most.)

‎I think the most “creative” thing I've done and been doing this year is write, and that's even just because of TwoCents. Cooking and working don't really count (in my opinion). Those are basically life tasks, and it's not like I'm taking my sweet time to learn new recipes.

‎I miss being curious.

‎I miss seeing something and thinking, Oh, that's interesting. I want to know more about that.

‎I miss wanting to try things just because I could.

‎And I'd really like to get some of that back.

‎I'd like little me to look up at me and think that, in some way, I am a better version of her.

‎And not just mentally or emotionally😩

‎So.

This is me on my journey to become curious again.

‎I'm posting about it here because, honestly, I know myself. I can think about doing something for weeks, get excited about it, make a whole plan, and then somehow never actually do it.

‎So maybe if I tell people I'm doing it, I'll actually go ahead with it (At least, it's worth a shot) 😭

‎I don't really know how this series is going to work yet. Maybe I'll post something every day? Maybe weekly? Maybe every few days? I genuinely have no idea.

‎But I'm definitely open to suggestions. If you have ideas for how I should structure it, or things you think I should try, feel free to tell me.

‎Anyway, let's see how this goes.

‎Wish me luck 🤞 ‎
