Dear Lolami, I was really skeptical about this one, and it wasn't even because you were an online vendor I hadn't patronised before. It was because of how I felt about myself. I didn't trust anyone to make something that would suit my body perfectly. My initial plan was to get an affordable, ready-made dress because, well, I'm just a student who's still depending on her parents. I was going to settle for a Naija-made dress, take my pictures, and thank God for life. Simple, yh? Yeah, I know. But as time went on, I saw this pretty dress on your WhatsApp status, and I knew instantly that that was my dress. I knew it would cost more than the dress I'd initially planned to buy, but I still texted you to ask about the price and other details. It was way beyond my budget, but somehow, I couldn't get it out of my mind. I saved the video and kept going back to watch it over and over again because it just felt like something I'd look good in. It felt like mine. At that price, it was definitely more than I'd planned to spend on a birthday dress as a student, but looking back, I'm glad I made that decision. 🥹 Fast-forward to the day I finally made payment for the dress. You literally stayed late at the market because of me! You were going to get materials for your other customers, and you still made sure to get mine, too. And to think that I reached out to you just FOUR DAYS before my birthday! 😭 I honestly thought you were going to reject my order, but you didn't. 🥹 I hadn't even completed my payment that day, and you were still so patient with me. You went ahead with making the dress, and somehow, I still received it a day before my birthday. I was SO excited! This birthday was a huge deal to me because it was my 20th, and it was the first time I was going all out to celebrate myself. Then I tried on the dress, and it was as if I'd transitioned into my royal era. 😭❤️ It hugged my slim waist perfectly, and the red colour, which I wasn't entirely sure about at first, contrasted so beautifully against my dark skin. Gosh 🤭 And just when I thought that was enough, you were thoughtful enough to include a handwritten note that oozed care and genuine love. 🥹 You have no idea how much that meant to me. In short, this wasn't just a birthday dress to me. It boosted my confidence. It made me feel like myself in a way I hadn't quite experienced before. And somehow, you helped me see a version of myself I'd been hiding away from, and I got to see her in such a beautiful light. For that, I'm genuinely grateful.
