ADULT-ISH ?

‎I never would’ve imagined I’d be nervous about clocking a new age. Well… not technically.

‎Hi, I’m Precious Darla, and it’s my birthday 🤭. I know birthdays are supposed to be all fun and memorable. This one is — just in a funny way.

‎For a girl who once only ever dreamt of growing up, I’m disappointed. Did I say a bit? I’m very disappointed.

‎As I draw closer to adulthood and say goodbye to my teenage days, I can’t help but wonder if this is what I spent nights praying for. This isn’t what I ordered, please!

‎I don’t wanna grow up. I want all the pros of adulthood… but the cons? 😩

‎I don’t want to pay tax or rent. I want to keep my inner child alive and active.

‎I still want to play in the rain, separate beans from rice, and a lot more…‎Maybe I’m overthinking this whole thing. Or maybe I’m just afraid of losing time, ease, and being cared for 🥺.

‎I don’t mean to be selfish, but I still want my mom to sort my clothes. I still want to run to her when I can’t find my socks. (exhales)

‎But we gotta focus on the good life.

‎As exhausting and demanding as this transitional phase can be, I’m proud to say I wouldn’t have it any other way.

‎It’s tiring — true — but it’s also adventurous and utterly beautiful. Plus, I’ve got buddies to ride with. I’m one not-so-little blessed girl, ain’t I?

‎So let’s raise a toast.

‎

‎To the awesomeness I’m unlocking.

‎To the emergence of a better version of me.

‎To a deeper relationship with Christ.

‎Cheers to the amazing souls who have effortlessly loved and cared for me.

‎Cheers to the dearies who support me and chastise me when necessary.

‎You all are loved.

‎And lest I forget — cups up for all my day ones 🤍

‎My teenage days were fun (I sound so old saying that). They still are, even if a part of me wants to be sixteen again. I’ll make sure I live the best of these days and savour every moment.

‎I hope to look back one day and hold my head high in the presence of my younger self, with a smile that says, “Honey, I made it” ☺️.

‎

‎Happy birthday to me. I’m still becoming — and that’s okay.

‎
