I've been thinking about some things lately Sha and part of it is, hymen and virginity.

Imagine getting married, only for your husband to question your entire sexual history because you didn't bleed on your wedding night.

Imagine having to defend your innocence over something your own body was never obligated to prove.

Sounds unfair, right?

But this is the reality some women face because of one persistent misconception: that every virgin must bleed the first time she has sex.

It's been bothering me for real and I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking of this right.

Let's talk about it.

The hymen is a thin, flexible tissue around the opening of the vagina. Its appearance varies naturally from person to person, and it can stretch through ordinary activities or sexual intercourse. Some people are born with very little hymenal tissue, too.

Now, here's what many people don't know.

Not every woman bleeds during her first sexual experience.

Some bleed. Some don't.

And neither bleeding nor the absence of it can reliably tell you whether someone has had sex before.

Read that again.

A woman can have sex for the first time and not bleed. Another woman can bleed for reasons unrelated to virginity.

So, why are we still using bedsheets to judge a woman's sexual history?

Why are women expected to produce physical evidence of their virginity when the human body doesn't work according to that expectation?

And why does this burden seem to fall so heavily on women?

The truth is that virginity is a social and personal concept, not a medical condition that can be confirmed by examining the hymen. The World Health Organization has also stated that so-called virginity testing has no scientific merit.

Your body is not a certificate.

Blood is not evidence of innocence.

And the absence of blood is not evidence of a sexual past.

A woman's worth has never been hanging between her legs.

If trust is the foundation of a relationship, why are we asking the human body to prove what only honest communication can address?

Now tell me, were you taught growing up that every woman must bleed on her wedding night? And do you think this misconception still affects women today?

Let me hear your point on this. I'll be in the comment section.

At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
Top Engagers
For the Top Engagers Track, we award the top 3 people who engage the most with other user's content via
comments.
The winners are picked using the "Top Monthly Engagers" tab on the rankings page.
Most Engaged Content
The Most Engaged Content recognizes users whose content received the most engagement during the month.
We pick the top 3.
The winners are picked using the "Top Monthly Contributors" tab on the rankings page.
Contributor Rankings
The Rankings/Leaderboard shows the Top 20 contributors and engagers on TwoCents a monthly and all-time basis
— as well as the most active colleges (users attending/that attended those colleges)
The all-time contributors ranking is based on the Contributor Score, which is a measure of all the engagement and exposure a contributor's content receives.
The monthly contributors ranking tracks performance of a user's insights for the current month. The monthly and all-time scores are calcuated DIFFERENTLY.
This page also shows the top engagers on an all-time & monthly basis.
