ONCE THERE WAS
<p><br/></p><p>You saw a tree full of birds today.</p><p><br/></p><p>You don’t even know the name of the tree.</p><p><br/></p><p>Or the name of the birds.</p><p><br/></p><p>You would look it up later.</p><p><br/></p><p>It was strange.</p><p><br/></p><p>It brought back a memory.</p><p><br/></p><p>You stood and stared at it for a while.</p><p><br/></p><p>When you were younger.</p><p><br/></p><p>On your way to school.</p><p><br/></p><p>There was a tree just like it.</p><p><br/></p><p>But bigger really bigger.</p><p><br/></p><p>There were these birds with their nests all in the branches.</p><p><br/></p><p>Always flying always chirping.</p><p><br/></p><p>There were a lot of them.</p><p><br/></p><p>They were a spectacle.</p><p><br/></p><p>They fascinated you.</p><p><br/></p><p>You always imagined what it’d be like to be one of them.</p><p><br/></p><p>Then one day they just disappeared.</p><p><br/></p><p>The birds.</p><p><br/></p><p>The tree.</p><p><br/></p><p>Home to thousands of birds and their nests and their eggs.</p><p><br/></p><p>All gone.</p><p><br/></p><p>Just because of a road.</p><p><br/></p><p>You never knew what happened to it.</p><p><br/></p><p>And you had always wondered about the tree.</p><p><br/></p><p>You didn’t even remember it being felled.</p><p><br/></p><p>You just remembered it being gone.</p><p><br/></p><p>What about the birds?</p><p><br/></p><p>Where’d they live?</p><p><br/></p><p>Where’d they go?</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p>
