One year after two cents

Exactly one year ago, I was on my bed when my Student Association President mandated that all Honourables sign up for an app called Two Cents because of a sponsorship opportunity.

My first reaction was basically, “Please don’t stress me. What is this thing even about?” I had absolutely no idea what I was signing up for, but I signed up anyway.

During the first week of October, Honourable Kira called some of us and explained what Two Cents was about. I won’t lie, I was here for the money. That was literally my only motivation.

Then on October 11, I made my first post. And somehow, that one post became another, and another, until I started building a community and a little family here.

Today makes it exactly one year since I joined Two Cents, and looking back, I’m actually proud of how far I’ve come.

A few things I’ve achieved along the way:

I’m currently the Top Contributor from Redeemer’s University.

I’ve made 20 posts

I have 41 followers

I started the Really World Series.

I currently have 5 badges.

I received an award just a few weeks after joining, which honestly encouraged me so much.

And most importantly, I found a community that has encouraged me to write more, challenged me and helped me grow.

Getting that first award made me set a goal for myself to write more and post more. One year later, I’m happy to say I’m still doing exactly that.

Cheers to Cyrus and Tobi for the encouragement and love. Much love to the Literary Circle for helping me grow and constantly challenging me to do better. And to everyone who has ever upvoted, commented, shared my posts, sent a tip or simply taken the time to read something I wrote, thank you. You’ve all contributed to this journey in one way or another.

It’s funny because I joined Two Cents thinking, “Let me just collect this money.” One year later, I have 20 posts, 5 badges, a series, an award, a community and, most importantly, I’ve actually earned my emergency funds on this app.

So Two Cents, please don’t crash. My emergency funds are here. I repeat, my emergency funds are here. I have a financial relationship with this app now, so everybody should behave themselves.

I came for the money. I stayed for the people. And somehow, I ended up becoming a writer along the way.

Happy one year to me and my Two Cents journey.
