THE CURSE OF BEING NEEDED

They remember you when they need a hand, But forget your wounds they cannot understand. You become their shelter in the rain, Yet nobody shelters you from pain.

Your phone stays silent when you fall, The same ones you carried don't answer your call. You were their strength when their worlds turned blue, But who becomes strong when it happens to you?

Perhaps being needed is a beautiful curse, You give them your best, they leave you your worst. You become indispensable until you break, Then they find another for your place.

You thought you were loved, but the truth was concealed, They loved what you offered, not the wounds you concealed. And the cruelest discovery a heart can receive Is being valued for what you give, not the person you be.

This poem is intended for people who constantly support others while silently battling their own struggles. It is also for anyone who has experienced one-sided relationships, emotional neglect, or the pain of feeling valued only when they are useful.

Never measure your worth by how much you sacrifice for others. Genuine love goes beyond what you can offer; it recognizes your feelings, respects your boundaries, and stands beside you when you have nothing left to give. You deserve to be cared for, not just needed.

Never lose yourself trying to be everything to everyone. You deserve the same love, care, and support you so freely give to others.
