THE FRIENDS WE GATHER.

We meet people every day.

Some come into our lives for a season, some stay for years, and some become the family we never knew we needed.

We laugh together, share our secrets, support each other through difficult days, celebrate each other's little victories, and create memories without thinking about how valuable those moments will become.

We often think we are simply making friends.

We don't stop to think about the future.

We don't know who will remember our voice, our laughter, our kindness, or the little things we did for them.

We don't know who will tell stories about us when we are no longer there to tell them ourselves.

That is why we should be intentional about the people we keep close and the kind of memories we leave behind.

Be kind to your friends.

Love them genuinely.

Show up for them.

Because life has a way of reminding us that nothing is promised forever.

And perhaps the most painful truth is this:

We never know that while we are gathering friends, we may also be gathering the people who will one day gather for our funeral.

It sounds dark, but there is something painfully beautiful about it.

Every time we laugh with a friend, check on someone, share a memory, or simply show up when they need us, we are building something we may never fully understand.

We think friendship is only about the present.

But one day, our friends may be the ones sitting together, telling stories about us.

They may remember the silly things we did, the advice we gave, the way we laughed, the times we showed up when nobody else did.

Because we never know which ordinary conversation will become someone's favorite memory of us.

We never know which friend will one day say,

“I really miss them.”

So while we are still here, let us love people well.

Let us create memories worth remembering.

Because life is temporary, but the memories we leave in people's hearts can remain long after we are gone.

Maybe, without knowing it, every genuine friendship we build is a little piece of the legacy we are leaving behind.
