<p><strong>THE GAY MAN</strong></p><p><ul><li>Eating food with a fork is gay, because God forbid a man uses that utensil on a regular basis.</li><li>Having a milkshake is gay, because God forbid a man doesn't take alcohol and wants something sweet.</li><li>Being scared on a bike is gay, because God forbid a man is concerned about his safety.</li><li>Giving your fellow man a hug is gay, because God forbid a man wants to embrace his friend and show affection.</li><li>Using lip balm is gay, because God forbid a man wants his lips moisturised.</li><li>Doing skincare is gay, because God forbid a man wants to look good.</li><li>Taking selfies is gay, because God forbid a man wants to capture a moment or simply likes how he looks.</li><li>Asking for directions is gay, because God forbid a man wants to know where he's going.</li><li>Being polite is gay, because God forbid a man was brought up properly and has manners.</li><li>A man cleaning his home is gay, because God forbid a man loves his environment clean, tidy and organised.</li><li>Listening to music made by women is gay, because God forbid a man has a different taste in music and is not a gunna fan.</li><li>Being a man is gay, because God forbid your character, mannerisms and interests don't perfectly match society's standards of what a man should be.</li></ul></p><p>So apparently, there is now a rulebook.</p><p>You can't eat like this.</p><p>You can't drink that.</p><p>You can't dress like that.</p><p>You can't take care of yourself.</p><p>You can't be affectionate with your friends.</p><p>You can't be afraid.</p><p>You can't ask for help.</p><p>You can't be soft.</p><p>You can't be expressive.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because apparently, everything has to prove your masculinity.</p><p>And honestly?</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Can we let men be men?</strong></p><p><strong><br/></strong></p><p>Can we let them have interests without attaching a sexuality to them?</p><p>Can a man enjoy a milkshake without somebody questioning his sexuality?</p><p>Can he hug his friend without somebody making it weird?</p><p>Can he moisturise his lips without being called feminine?</p><p>Can he be scared without being called weak?</p><p>Can he simply exist without constantly having to perform masculinity for an audience?</p><p><br/></p><p>And more importantly—</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Aren't they human beings?</strong></p><p><strong><br/></strong></p><p>Maybe a man using a fork is just a man using a fork.</p><p>Maybe a man taking care of his skin is just a man taking care of his skin.</p><p>Maybe a man hugging his friend is just a man showing affection.</p><p>Maybe not everything needs to be a referendum on his sexuality.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Can we let people be?</strong></p><p><br/></p>
