In a village called Orunmokégé, located in the eastern part of Ogbo,

There lived a young, vibrant, dark-skinned man with his dear wife and beautiful children.

They were known as peace-makers with everyone in the village. The family lived a life of survival — to eat even two square meals a day was quite difficult.

Yet they kept living. The village knew them as the less privileged family, and none of them cared what would become of them.

The young man was known for his hard work, but it seemed like the work he put in could barely feed his family.

And there came a day when the family had nothing left to hang on as food to quench their hunger. No one bothered to help, even though they saw their struggle, the villagers just didn't care.

The young man woke up as usual and went out for his daily job, because he couldn't take it anymore, watching his family suffer from hunger because of the sting of poverty that surrounded them.

He went to seek for help, but none of the villagers cared about the hell that young man was going through, despite his family's contribution to the village.

I forgot to tell you guys, the man is literate, and he helped the villagers with any kind of problem or crisis facing the town.

The young man went back home with a saddened heart, a deeply wounded and heavy heart that day. He thought of his wife, his children, and anxiety almost made him give up on life.

On getting to his house, he didn't know how to enter his own door because there was no good news to share with his family.

His wife heard the footsteps of her husband but was wondering why he had not entered the house. Then she reached out to the door and found her husband soaked with rain water, weeping and sobbing like a newborn baby. She reached out to him, hugged him tightly and said, "Ifeladun, I see your struggles and I know how you're trying your best to make everything work out." She comforted him and walked him inside. They stayed close side by side while watching their three children sleeping.

They both stayed up that night and had a deep prayer that God should change their lives. They cried and wept that night, and then fell asleep for a while.

They didn't know that God was about to turn the village's pain into their own doorway.

Little did they know that God had answered their prayers. Then in the morning, something unusual happened — all the domestic animals in the village were hunted and found bruised, many were found dead.

Then the villagers cried out and chose a representative that would go into the palace and announce what had happened in the whole village. On getting to the palace, news had already reached the king.

The representatives explained what had happened, and the Kabiyesi was left astonished, that this had never happened in history and not while he was sitting on the throne. He calmed everyone and assured them they would look into it.

Then the king gathered the wise men, consulted the Oracle for a solution to the calamity that befell them, and after many hours of consultation, the Oracle spoke, and not only did it speak, it brought a solution.

It showed the wise men a brutal animal living in their village bush, a very big and scary creature with two horns on its head. It showed them another thing — an advanced trapping net that had never been seen before.

They explained what the Oracle said to the king, but one thing baffled all of them — not knowing how to build this advanced trapping net, not to talk of the architectural structure drawing.

They gave out the announcement, that whoever could come to build this net and capture the hunted creature would be the second ruler of the village.

The news reached the young man's door, and he shared it with his wife. They came up with plans on how to visit the palace.

And as morning unfolded, they departed to the palace and explained their plans — how to build the trapping net, where to put the trap — and everything seemed reasonable to the villagers and the king.

And the king asked, "How long will it take to build this?" And the young man answered, "In three days." He asked for all materials that would be used and the process began.

The first day, it seemed impossible, but the young man and his wife kept on going because they never imagined going back to the life they were living. The first day passed, and on the second day, the build started to make much sense and they smiled, and the king came to see how the work was going.

Then came the final day, it was all wrapped up, and the trapping net looked like what had never been seen before. The king praised them and took them to the palace to have dinner with the king.

From being a poor man, to now sitting with the king and eating from the same plate. After they finished eating, they rested for the next day, and when morning came, they departed to the site where the net trap would be planted. They set the trap and asked the royal guards to safeguard the place.

As night befell, the king left, and the young man with his wife stayed.

And lo and behold, morning came and the hunted beast had been captured. There was so much joy in the village, and the king honored his words and awarded the young man as the second ruler of the village. He was given a house, farmlands, and a lot of possessions were handed over to him.

That day, his life and his family's lives changed for good. He didn't just escape poverty; he proved that wisdom can be greater than a crown.

Thanks for reading, I appreciate every upvoting, comment, and perhaps if this interests you, consider sending tips to encourage us to put in more effort for beautiful stories like this.
